Tracy Austin (and John McEnroe) have been the co-commentators for the Ladies Final on the BBC since 2003 with various lead commentators in that time. David Mercer in 03, 04, 07, Chris Bailey 05, John Barrett 06 and Petchey in 08 and 09.

Yeah, I think I read on twitter that she is with the tour until the 12th and then returns for the final weekend.

I enjoyed the preview programme on ITV4 last night, Gary Imlach was in fine form as per normal

Yes, he was a pro rider during the 70's and 80's. He then went onto work in media relations for the Motorola team (which is why he has such a good relationship with Lance Armstrong). He started commentating in the 1980s with Phil and it's strange hearing him on videos from then as his north west accent was much stronger back then.

I think he also spends most of his time now running a mining company in Africa.

CBC - Mitch Peacock and Michael Smith commentating on the Diamond League in Eugene, Oregon.....from Toronto. They really can be cheap sometimes.

NBC - Tom Hammond, Ato Boldon, Lewis Johnson, Lewis Johnson, and Dwight Stones are there in Oregon.

Shouldn't be a surprise - Jill has been presenting ITV's coverage of the Tour Series all year, except for the first race where she was co-presenting with Ned.

I have been followint the Tour De France and am intrigued by Versus coverage in the United States and ITV4 in the United Kingdom. Much of the coverage is shared (commentary by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen) but they have different commercial breaks and am wondering who is commentating for ITV4 when PL is referring to competitions et cetera on Versus.

For the record, the hosts for Versus are Craig Hummer and Bob Roll with Frankie Andreu interviewing.

British Eurosport are using James Richardson, Magnus Baeckstedt and Stephen Roche in the studio with David Harmon and Sean Kelly commentating.

ITV4 doing ITV's usual multiple ad breaks towards the end of the stage today whereas Versus has declared the last 20 minutes to be commercial-free.

When Liggett is doing his plugs on Versus, Sherwen commentates alone on ITV4. If you didn't know it was coming, you wouldn't notice it. Though my dad did wonder if it meant Liggett had gone to the loo.

There is nothing ITV-specific about the commentary, bar a Q&A thing with the comms in the highlights programme every night, where they seem to be sat in an ITV booth.

I was away for the first couple of days of the tour so didn't see who Eurosport had in their studio-did Backstedt do the first 4 days? Since then, Tony Gibb was alongside Roche on Wednesday and Thursday, while Rob Hayles has been there the last two days.

Ridiculous amount of ads on ITV4. I either start 20 minutes delayed and catch up on the sky+, or flick over to Eurosport in the ads.

I know the multiple ad breaks are a bit much, but that aside I've really enjoyed what I've seen of ITV4's Tour de France coverage so far.

I was never a great fan of cycling until a few years ago, but since giving it a chance I find the ITV team really illuminate the sport for the audience, explaining things about the teams, jerseys, race tactics etc really well for new viewers whilst not oversimplifying things to frustrate devoted fans. They strike this balance really well.

There are few better sports anchors than Gary Imlach in my opinion and he really comes into his own during the Tour, while Phil Liggett is a fine commentator who brings the races to life. Looking forward to Ned Boulting joining the team as his features are always fun and interesting.

By the way, during the last few KMs of yesterday's stage, among the idiots who run onto the road did anyone else notice the guy who was holding up a cardboard cut-out of Phil Liggett's face?

You could hear it from the chuckle in Phil's voice that he'd spotted the homage to him but to his credit he kept it to himself.
