I am assuming this is because a bit of illness has been spreading around the sky team this week. Charles sounded very bad on Thursday night and Mark Butcher was suffering during one of the CB40 games earlier in the week although he sounded better on Thursday. I suspect sky decided if Charles was off sick that rather than bring in another presenter at short notice it would be easier to use Gower. They also did this during the winter one day when Charles and Bob were snowed in.

Cheers for that mate, sounds like that is indeed the problem

Gloucestershire Gladiators v Essex Eagles - Clydesdale Bank 40 Group B (Monday 23rd August)

Presenter: Ian Ward (also commentating)
Commentators: Nick Knight, Paul Allott, Ian Harvey, Robert Croft and Jonathan Batty (special guest for 8 overs)

Sussex Sharks v Glamorgan Dragons - Clydesdale Bank 40 Group A (Wednesday 25th August)

Presenter: Ian Ward
Pundits: Mark Butcher and Robert Key

No play was possible in this match due to rain. Butcher and Key joined Ward in the studio whilst Paul Allott was seen interviewing one of the umpires. The final member of the team was not seen before they went off air.

England v Pakistan - 4th Test (Thursday 26th August - Sunday 29th August)

Presenter: David Gower (also commentating)
Commentators: Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Sir Ian Botham, David Lloyd, Ramiz Raja and Michael Holding

Highlights of the first days play were presented by Charles Colvile with Bob Willis and Mark Butcher. For the rest of the match David Gower presented highlights from Lord's, presumably because Colvile was ill. A review of the test match summer on Monday evening was presented by Colvile with Willis and Graham Thorpe.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks v Yorkshire Carnegie - Clydesdale Bank 40 Group B (Tuesday 31st August)

Presenter: Ian Ward (also commentating)
Commentators: Nick Knight, Paul Allott, Mark Butcher and Shaun Udal

This must be one of the most ridiculous stories the Daily Fail has ever printed, as it gives the impression that the BBC is the main broadcaster for the Ryder Cup when it reality it will be showing a couple of hours highlights every night.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...te-strike.html

The corporation only won back the rights to show the Ryder Cup from Sky this year.
The event is staged bi-annually with the next month's event to be held at Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales, for the very first time.

The 2008 tournament, won by the USA for the first time since 1999, attracted nearly 1.2 million viewers on Sky Sports.
But the event is under threat after members of the National Union of Journalists and the technicians' union Bectu backed walkouts by more than 9-1 in protest at 'punitive' changes to the staff pension scheme.

Cardiff Blues V Edinburgh (Magners League RU)

Gareth Roberts hosting with Brynmor Williams for build up. Commentary from Huw Llewellyn Davies and Gwyn Jones.

There was also commentary of about 20-odd minutes of the first Italian side in the Magners League (Airioni play later on) by Cenydd Davies of Benetton Treviso* and the Scarlets.

*Treviso are so forward thinking in attracting the crowds they've allowed space in the ground for a hot air balloon

Now that the Blues V Edinburgh game has finished, I've switched to a stream of Munster V Airioni, and instead of going to an advert break, Setanta Australia has been showing a picture of the goalposts for the whole of half time.

It's almost soothing! (like those who remember the 'False' Fire that Super RTL showed during the night)

It's Freg Cogley on his own for Setanta.

Chris Bowers is the other 'main' commentator, as has usually been paired with Nick Brown.

I'm enjoying Sky's coverage of the US Open but to me they lack a real top class, big match commentator.
Don't get me wrong, they're all decent enough, but they're all much of a muchness and nobody stands out.
