Mark Nicholas is Channel 9's main cricket host now. He took over when Richie decided to do less. Bill Lawry for me is the greatest of the lot. Fantastic commentator.

Some sad news on Five Live today about the passing of an ITV great. Reg Gutteridge has sadly died.

No Barnes and Symonds/Simmonds (lets call the whole things off) did a pitchside preview around lunchtime on SSN, before the rains came.

Cor! and was then 'in' France within an hour.

These commentators must have some kind of underground chute based transportation system!

'twas Mark Robson and Scott Hastings for Leinster V Edinburgh.

I'm talking about Graham Simmonds/Symonds, apologies if i'm confusing the issue. When posting earlier I was unaware of Bob's presence in France.

Yeah - I was wondering why Bob Symonds would've been at Bath RFC.

(Unless he's got a Degree in Sports field technology or somefin' )

My horrible error.... wherever someone mentions Symonds, Bob's your uncle...

Sky's reporter is Graham Simmons, who I believe is not Welsh...

Lol, or maybe he had a spare mop and bucket they were using at the Rec. I couldn't find how to spell Graham's (easier to just call him that from now on) name so took it from post #155.

On other things, think Mats Wilander has done some work again for Eurosport during the Aussie Open, but I'm not 100%.

I really rate Robson, Setanta are missing him badly this season. I still think Harrison & Barnes are the best combination though. They have a great chemistry together. Overall, I think Sky's rugby coverage is excellent. A bit less Will Greenwood would be nice though

Strangely I think he's better on non-Irish club games, he can be a bit too patriotic at times for my liking, but maybe that's just repressed memories from when Leinster beat the Tigers the other year.

Interesting that you should say that as he has quite a number of detractors from Munster & Leinster who think he is biased against them. Indeed, there was an online poll somewhere to try and have him removed from commentating on Munster or Leinster matches.

My own view (as a season ticket holding Leinster fan) is that whilst he has his own style, he is one of better rugby
commentators out there, not as good as Harrison or Starmer-Smith but better than most!

Sad to the see the BBC report that Bill Frindall has passed away. Not quite a sports commentator, but at times he was as good as and his presence on TMS will be sorely missed.

I'm sure I heard that excellent and extremely versatile commentator Barry Davies (BBC retired) doing a voice-over for a Channel 4 promo today

Will Chignell and Dewi Morris did the England Saxons V Porrrrtugal RU Friendly on Friday Night on Sky Sports 1 / HD1.

Just watched the Scarlets V Barbarians that was on S4C earlier, and as usual it was Huw Llewellyn Davis and Gwyn Jones.

A Ruck 'n' Roll stream forming part of the Six Nations preview available via accessing the Red Button through any BBC Channel has some wonderful commentary (and a bit of KLF as well ) from the 60s to 2005.

They've also got a bit from Wednesday's 2009 RBS Six Nations launch out in London, where I finally get to see what Ian Robertson looks like!

I bet the other people in the radio room would have been well chuffed if they were trying to do interviews while he was huffing and puffing!

Well actually, a super glimpse of oft-mentioned Simon Ward.

Some of us were off car-chasing instead, I fear...

Sky Sports host David Gower was unable to be in Kingston for the start of the first Test yesterday because his flight on Monday was cancelled due to snow. He had to spend yesterday flying instead, the first day.

He arrived at ~7pm local time (play finished at 5.20pm). When being ribbed by Nasser Hussain on commentary today as to why he did not see the play yesterday, Gower replied "because the match wasn't live on British Airways!".

In his absence Ian Ward was called in to present coverage from a studio in London. Gower, however, will take over hosting from the ground for the second Test in North Sound.
