They mentioned this on 5LSX as well. I think the commentator at the time (Jonathan Agnew) said they came in to Jamaica from one of the American Cites.

i'm a bit surprised they have gower out there solely as a commentator, you'd think they'd have him presenting from over there as well

He arrived at ~7pm local time (play finished at 5.20pm). When being ribbed by Nasser Hussain on commentary today as to why he did not see the play yesterday, Gower replied "because the match wasn't live on British Airways!".

In his absence Ian Ward was called in to present coverage from a studio in London. Gower, however, will take over hosting from the ground for the second Test in North Sound.”

Much to Hussain's pleasure as he apparently decided to stay in the hotel airport the night before.

Is that the place where the 'studio' set up has been right up against the Sea / Palm Trees etc, like what was used during the Cricket World Cup in 2007?

No, that was in Barbados I think. North South is where the Sir Viv Richards ground is, in Antigua.

btw it's good to hear Sir Viv on TMS, he always seems to bring a little something extra to the coverage.

That was indeed in Barbados, as that is where the final was played. Good memories coming back now.

Gower will be presenting coverage of the second Test from the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, which is in North Sound, Antigua. The third Test is in Bridgetown, Barbados; the fourth is in Port Of Spain, Trinidad.

While I try not to be distracted by a Pete Doherty interview going horribly wrong, Hugh Cahill debuted on Ireland v France in the U20 Six Nations on RTE2 - and has instantly become their best rugby commentator

Eddie Hemmings, Mike Stephenson, Phil Clarke, Bill Arthur and Iestyn Harris were the Sky team for the restart of Super League

I guess that was shown instead of the 'A' International?

Suprised they are all making their own way out there. You would have thought Sky might have booked them all to travel together. They do on The 12th Man CD's Although Richie is in First Class of course.

Yes, which was actually a smart move - it was due to be shown live online anyway.

Unless you're referring to Pete Doherty, who was always scheduled to be on the other side....

Those of us who watched a bit of the 3rd ODI between Australia and New Zealand on Sky Sports 2 had it in 4:3, yet the only other Live programme on 16:9 across the Sports network was Nascar on SSX.

Yeah, I was disappointed by that this morning and yet they now appear to be broadcasting the highlights in 16:9!

All I can imagine was that Bob Willis went on a late night rampage in anger at England's performance and took out a couple of the studios yesterday

Sorry to be a bit pedantic, but does this mean the whole rest of the Tour (ie not just Tests but 20/20 and ODIs as well) will be presented from on site?

Why was this not done for the 1st Test? I appreciate Gower arrived late but couldn't the 1st Day could have been done by a combination of other commentators? Or they could have presented on site from when Gower arrived (though it would have looked odd to switch mid-match).

Channel 4 doing Athletics, been a while since that has happened.

Presenter - Mark Johnson ( usually a horse racing commmentator and pundit )

Commentator - The wonderful Stuart Storey

Only just seen this thread but the decision to present from a studio wasn't made because Gower was late travelling out. The idea for this tour was always have to have Ian Ward present with Bob Willis and another (Nick Knight or Robert Croft) providing analysis from London, hence the purpose built set for the studio.

Mark Johnson, interesting. How was he Darren? Didn't get to see any today, will have to try tomorrow. I imagine Stuart Storey was as good as ever.

And they are now showing highlights of this mornings match during a delay of the England test match but it has black bars.

Can anybody actually tell the difference between Ward and Knight.

He was quite good Alex. I have watched him many times on At The Races and heard him commentate hundreds of times, he is very adept and competent.

Stuart Storey just showed why he is the best athletics commentator in the business.

He's done pretty well from the bits I've seen so far today. Like you I've always been impressed by his knowledge and commentaries on ATR/RUK and he's began to crop up on 'The Morning Line' more and more recently.

He always seemed to have the potential to become a safe pair of hands, which is good since Jason Gardner doesn't seem to have settled in aswell as Mark.
