Sky Sports' commentators (particularly Bumble) at tonight's first Twenty20 game of the new season were on great form. Despite Somerset taking a hammering (yeah - guess where I live!), their banter more than made up for it. They got all the big guns (by Twenty20 standards anyway) out for this one!
Hampshire Royals v Somerset - Friends Life t20 (South Group)
(Wednesday 1st June)
Presenter: Charles Colvile
Commentators: Charles Colvile, Nasser Hussain, Nick Knight, David Lloyd
(No change in commentary format: 10 overs per pair, with the presenter disappearing about 3 overs early to prepare for interviews, replaced by one from the other pair.)
They also mentioned who's gonna be at tomorrow's game, Durham v Warwickshire, particularly promoting Steve Harmison's presence. (I quite liked his punditry in the highlights shows during the Ashes series Down Under, I must admit.) No "big guns" this time, no doubt because they'll all be down south at Lord's for the second Test match between England and Sri Lanka on Friday morning.
Durham Dynamos v Warwickshire Bears - Friends Life t20 (North Group)
(Thursday 2nd June)
Presenter: (presumably) Paul Allott
Commentators: Paul Allott, Mark Butcher, Dominic Cork, Steve Harmison
Interestingly, no Ian Ward presenting either game. Looks like he's exclusively on interview duty at England games now then. Bit of a demotion really, and a disappointing one at that, as he's perfectly capable and enthusiastic as presenter/commentator.
