Panasonic SC-BT100 3:1 UK. Import 5:1?

Does anyone have one?

Why is it only 3:1 in the UK?

I am a thinking of importing one from the USA because it’s 5:1. Do they have a 240v option? Can it be changed to multi-regional?

Import one from the US and you'll only be able to play Region A & Region Free Blu-ray Media.

I thing you'll be better off buying a separate AV Receiver, Speakers and Blu-ray Player.

How many times do I need to explain this. The 5.1/7.1 additional wireless speakers will be out soon. Why make a 3.1, 5.1 and 7.1 units when you don't need too. An add-on does exactly the same job. Buy the UK 3.1 and wait for the add-ons.
Especially as the US version is just the add-ons supplied in 1 box.

You don’t have to explain anything. Nobody is forced to post on this forum.

I don’t believe there is a market for a 3:1 system.

I am looking for a 5:1 system. I can’t see the benefit of having 7:1.

The 5:1 in the USA is approx $850 shipped + import duty. The UK 3:1 + extra speaker kit = £750. That’s a difference of £325 and I don’t think the import duty will come to that much. I think I could get the 5:1 system for about £575 and save myself £175. So, the decision hinges on the spec:

My greatest concern is the voltage. I have step-down transformers but don’t really want to go down that route. The region issue also concerns me but I am hoping there will be a crack for that.

Does anyone have any of these answers?

Ok. I'll take the info elsewhere. If there was a difference in spec between a "5.1" system in the US and the 3.1 UK model with the Add-ons (which there isn't, other than not being able to read uk discs) I would understand the problem. But as it's going to be exactly the same spec I don't. Maybe Panasonic will box it up as apackage here too but so far the demand for Blu-ray Home cinema has been low whilst the demand for non-5.1 systems seems to be on the increase. Maybe they are trying to cater for what the believe to be the bigger market at the moment but allowing people to add-on if thay want to. Who knows, who cares.

Good luck with the US model.

If I get one, I’ll post the results.

Hi. I have a BT100 and have bought two sets of the wireless speakers to give me 7:1 surround sound with the BT100 player. Speakers work fine, even in the room with a Roku Soundbridge and internet camera using the home wireless.

The speakers are difficult to find, but I found them on www.amazon.co.uk and on www.hugheselectrical.co.uk - search for SHFX67EK on these sites. Unfortunately both seem to be out of stock at the moment. If you email Panasonic from their website, they should be able to tell you when supplies will be delivered to their on-line store. Or just keep Googling the above code to find someone who has stock.

Hope this helps,

Chris
