I have a pvr 80 bought for my sister but it is sticking.I have tried it at my friends who has one and it sticks there also.I have no problems with any boxes apart from this one at my house.Any advice on how to fix if possible much appreciated.

Try using some baby wipes or Mr Muscle if it is sticking

Seriously though, you need to be a bit more specific with your problem description. For example, is it freezing displaying video, does the sound continue etc (which would suggest signal strength) or does the whole box jam when using menus?

Also letting us know the software version would be of great help as you may just have an old version of the software.

It sticks when playing normal digital channels. The firmware is 5.6.I bought it off a company on e-bay a few months ago and fell out with them because the link was a dtr 160 but they sent me a pvr 80 so sending it back is not an option.Complained to e-bay but no satisfaction.Any help much appreciated.Tried it out in my house because digital is not available yet at my sisters.Probably next year.

Hi

You have the final and best single-record firmware Vestel produced for their T810. Someone went to the trouble of loading it onto your HDDR, as that version was never broadcast OAD.

Try improving the quality and strength of your Freeview signal by the usual means:

Quote:
“If you frequently suffer unavailability of DTT/Freeview the productive reaction is to improve the quality of your aerial system. Paths to take: Use double-screened RF interconnects; fit CAI approved high-gain aerial; replace unscreened wallplates with screened; replace building's standard aerial cable with satellite-grade; fit low-noise masthead amplifier & low-voltage PSU.”

The two easiest DIY measures are an (indoor) double-screened aerial lead and a mains amplifier ("booster"). Get a booster with at least two outputs, so that the Vestel/Digihome HDDR can have a direct connection from it and the rest of your items, connect to the other.

Once you've overcome the reception problems, you can contemplate replacing the Vestel firmware with an amateur replacement version, which does twin-recording like the T816 you ordered!

I loaded the latest firmware myself to see if it fixed the sticking.I have a excellent signal on two of my digifusions.I think it must be a dodgy receiver.
