This is why Digital spy shouldn't post speculative news articles based on tabloids. There isn't going to be a flipping movie.

Can't argue with that.

who wants a movie anyway? I'd prefer 14 episodes of TV programmes a year rather than only one film at a maximum of one every two years (eg the most succesful tv film franchise star trek (10 movies since the early 80's or the most successful movie franchise james bond 20 movies since the early 60's)

we have have 751 episodes keeping it on tv

What I don't understand is that it appears the results of a poll were released saying that Doctor Who is the TV show that viewers would most like to be on the big screen and then within hours speculation about the movie starts.

If DT stays on for series 5, I'd remotely begin to entertain some truth of a movie if he stay beyond series 5 then I'd say a movie could be a better possibility, but if DT leaves at the end of series 5 I wouldn't hold my breath for a movie.

If a movie were to be made within the next few years they would have to use DT, because for the majority of the audience that would go to see the movie he IS the Dr. A new Dr. for series 5 or starting series 6 just would not be established enough to gamble on a movie, the next Dr might bomb big time, we might get a Tom Baker or we might get a Colin Baker. But by the time the shooting of a movie gets of the ground it is a big gamble to take on not knowing who the Dr will be or if the Dr at the time is movie material. Unless they cast a different actor just for the movie...God I hope not.

Not explianed that very well but I hope you get my jist.

But personally I just cant see a movie working let alone being made.

There is NO movie. Or even a semi-plausible possibilty of one.

What is with all the aggression in this thread?

Poor guy! He only made 4 posts - is there really any need for such hostility?

No one saying it should be - but the guy started a thread which alot of people don't seem to like, but why pounce on him and be so nasty about it?

Its hardly the end of the world is it?

I hope there isn't a movie, at this stage anyway.

Thankfully Moffatt has said any movie (IF made!) wouldn't get in the way of the series, which would be my biggest fear.

I think that the chances of a movie are pretty much nonexistant given that this is a BBC property. But to answer the original question...

-No, it should not be in 3D as that would be a fairly silly gimmick to use.
-No, there should not be an environmental theme, or at very least they should not repeatedly beat us over the head with one. Fair enough if the plot serves as an environmental metaphor but even then it seems a bit random.

I'd agree with your second paragraph, but I don't think it follows that there's less likely to be a movie if DT leaves. In fact, he might then become available to play "the other Doctor" in a movie set in the parallel universe.

Reuniting DT & BP on the big screen would be an excellent way of burying the mistakes of the S4 Rose comeback disaster. I'm willing to bet that masses of viewers still want to see these two iconic figures reunited properly and in a manner worthy of their contribution to the series' success. And in forums I see a lot of dissatisfaction with the inexplicable way JE resolved things. The BBC would be crazy not to tap into the continuing popularity of Doctor/Rose, whether SM likes it or not (he will only be responsible for the main series, I believe). Don't tell me that ending didn't have either "spinoff" or "movie" written right through it. Up until the final edit, RTD even went to the trouble of leaving the clone Doctor with a clone TARDIS.
