LCD backlight infared interference

I have an 18 month old Sharp Aquos 37" lcd tv,the problem I have is when I use the Sky HD remote the backlight interferes with the signal thus keys do not respond or are very delayed. If I put the backlight onto +8 then the remote works fine,if I put it on -8 the remote works fine anywhere in between then I get the problems.I know I could turn it up to +8 and just lower the contrast and brightness but the picture does not look as good or as natural.I even got a remote extender that plugs into the RF but this causes problems such as duplicating my button presses which is very frustating,I have read on other forums but no one has a definitive answer to this so I thought I would give you guys & girls a go

Try using the 'magic eye' and block the receiver on the front off with something IR proof - black tape 'may' work, but some types are IR transparent. To see if it cures the problem initially, you can block the front of the box with a magazine or book.

Many thanks for the quick reply Nigel, however I have tried covering the sensor with duct tape, cardboard etc... and it gets worse.I guess 2 sensors are better than 1.Strangely enough it only started happening after the sharp engineer changed out the HDMI card slot in the back as I was having problems with the hdmi inputs.
That was done under the first years warranty but even though I told them about it they never got back to resolving the problem,it is now out of warranty but I have an extended warranty would it be worthwhile chasing them up to say the tv is faulty?

Worth a try - it's not something LCD's do, Plasma's can cause problems because they chuck out lots of RF and interfere with magic eyes, but LCD's don't really cause any problems like this.
