I have just phoned Vodafone to ask how I can block a certain number from contacting me, they said I can only do it on my phone but I have searched google and got some contradicting information from their, saying it is my network I am with.

I am with Vodafone, can anyone help?

Have a look in the phone's handbook, or if you haven't got it, download it from the manufacturer's website. Should be in there as to what to do.

Failing that, just ignore the calls and don't return the texts and i guarantee the problem will quickly go away.

I was told Samsungs allow you to block individual numbers, but I've never owned one to know if that is possible.

That's right - my Samsung D900 allows you to add pesky numbers to a blocked list. However, it would seem that the phone still continues to list the calls, but at least they don't ring anymore, and presumably the caller gets told you are not available.

It was very useful when I first got the phone with new number from Carphonewhorehouse - for some 'strange' reason (yeah right!) I started getting cold calls from a marketing firm, but they seem to have given up after the first two weeks of getting nowhere.

It depends on which Samsung model you have. My U600 has a call reject feature (in the Call History menu) & one for blocking texts (in the Messages menu.)

The E900 only has the text blocking feature.
