Surprised at no thread on this band yet!!
Heard them for the first time last night on M.Space and loved what I heard. Original, raw, and not an american accent anywhere.
Particularly like their covers of come as you are and everybodys got to learn sometime.

Anyone recommend the album??

I've seen them live and they were amazing, and they have some good songs! Daddys Gone being my favourite at the moment. I haven't got the album but will probably get it soon!

Glasvegas are going to be huge, they stormed the festivals this summer and can't wait for the album release.

I reckon by the end of the year they will be a stadium band !

More sub-standard indie-pop turd.

It's no wonder there's no decent music anymore when this kind of tripe is pushed as some kind of god send. It's shite.

My point is they're not original. They have not defined a new genre.

The Beatles where trying to emulate motown when they came up with their sound. Zeppelin where trying to emulate american blues. Nobody creates a Genre out of a vacuum. Glasvegas seem to have a mix of indie and phil spector wall of sound - not so common out there

Saw them at Leeds Festival - they may not be original, but they're excellent. The atmosphere was brilliant. Heard an advance copy of the album, and that's really good as well.

I saw them from the back of a very packed out tent of very happy people. I don't care if they are genre defying, they were bloody good.

I really dislike their sound. I don't think I could handle listening to them for more than one song.

I saw them on Jools Holland a while back and was very impressed. Being Scottish there's a bit of the Mary Chain about them but that's no bad thing. I must say I haven't heard anything else over the past year or so to get excited about, not on this side of the Atlantic at least.

They were on Jo Wiley this morning. I didn't hear it, so can't say if they were any good, but I heard her talking about it afterwards.

They're good, but I'm a bit baffled by all the hype surrounding them. I'll hold my breath til I've heard more, but I haven't yet heard anything that fully justifies the critical acclaim they've received.

They're not bad but The Twilight Sad are better in every way imaginable, except maybe radio-friendliness .

I thought that, and also The Ramones. Great sound.

Their cover of "Back To Black" was repeated in the afternoon. Sara Cox, summarising the general nature of the texts jokingly suggested "if you can't text something nice then perhaps you shouldn't text at all!" but did read out one which I thought summed it up nicely:

"Was that a joke audition from The X Factor?!"

They were atrocious. It will still be up on the Radio 1 website. Either Jo Whiley in the morning or Sara Cox (in for Edith Bowman) in the afternoon.

Their album is out today...available for download on i-choons for £6.99. I haven't anticipated an album as much for a long long time...and it doesn't disappoint. Stunning debut from a band that are going to be massive. I can't get "its my own cheating heart that makes me cry" out of my head

If you are in Glasgow they are at HMV at 18:00 tonight ( signing, not playing as far as I know ).
