Any chance of external aerials for phones anywhere?
I remember all the old phones had them but I cant find an N95 one anywhere. Does it even have a connection for one?

No the antenna is built in. Its been that way for most phones for years. I've never heard of an external antenna.

You can get external aerials. They use a coupler which is attached over the case of the phone where the aerial is. I can't give you a link as i'm posting from my phone. But if you search for 3g aerials you'll find a few.

Why would you want to buy an external antenna for any modern phone???

Am I missing something obvious?

my O/H & myself both had N95's. Mine had perfect reception but hers in the same place was only 1"pip" on the signal bar. Phoned and got it changed for another one and its now the same as my reception. Seems like some have dodgy antennas.

Most new houses built in the last few years have metallic insulation in the walls and between the floors. This acts like a faraday cage and rastically reduces the phone signal. If you happen to have window glass with metal oxides which help keep heat in then you will have zero signal. The only options are to fit an external aerial in the loft. Or to buy a repeater which needs to be installed. A repeater will cost from £499+installation+VAT. An external aerial which you can fit yourself from about £50.
