Orange PAYG bundle - part 2
Forum members may remember that over the bank holiday weekend just gone, I attempted to buy a 1-pound browsing bundle on the Friday. A message flashed up on the screen saying that the account could not be accessed, and to try later. This was overridden by a text saying that the product I'd requested could not be supplied, and to dial 450.
Not having time, I left it. On the Saturday, a text arrived saying that the 1-day browsing had expired, and would I like to buy another. Sure enough, checking the account balance on broadband, it had gone down by a pound. Early on Thursday morning ( 1:30 ) I tried to buy another 1-pound browsing bundle. This time two messages saying that I was successful came back, despite me only pressing the button on the phone once to accept the offer. I've also received another 2 texts from Orange at 07:30 repeating the first two. So I'm paying for two one-day bundles at once on the same day. Out of academic interest, on Friday morning I shall attempt to buy one day's browsing through the broaddband connecting to my account, to see what happens. Thanks to everyone who read my first posting in this saga, and Pencil for replying. Any other Orange users had similar experience ? Phil |

The problems that I've had I'm putting down to the variable nature of 3G reception here in Leominster. It's obviously confused the Orange accounting system. In future, I'll buy extras through broadband and not via the phone itself. My recommendation therefore to fellow forum members is that if you see the 3G signal falling back to GPRS, and suffer symptoms such as video streaming halting, TCP timeout or DNS not available, then whatever network you're on, buy extras via broadband and not through the phone. This 3G's good when it works.... Thank you ! Phil |
