ok so I have an old out dated acoustic solutions dx333 sound system and since I have had great use from these (sadly lost the remote and no replacement available)

I was looking to venture into a new system and well I thought why mess with a good thing and looked into a newer system of theirs: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...+SOLUTIONS.htm

can anyone recommend this system or tell me if it's worth the buy?

And, they have came and look superb quality. Quite heavy in weight (compared with my old all in 1 system)

I am new to all this but I have been given some good advice off several poeple on this forum and for my budget I have seen this one.

http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/...oduct_id=15886

The same setup in richer sound would cost £270 but they price mate and beat it by £10 if you ask.

It's in a different class to the one you are looking at in Argos.

I only wanted to spend the same but for a budget system now a days it seem that £200 is the minumum and the sky's the limit for the top end setups

Compared to the Argos one I guess it will feel like a top end system to you as it would me. lol

Acoustic Solutions is OK budget stuff but they're not normally in the same league as Tannoy and Onkyo.

If nothing else, their reliability is OK. I have an Acoustic Solutions DVD player I bought about 6 or 7 years ago (from Richer Sounds as well) and it still works fine and has never given me any problems.

But, on the audio quality front, the Tannoy and Onkyo sets should be a lot better.

Yeah but far better quality than, acoustic solutions I imagine otherwise everyone would have them. lol

Each to their own but I would not go near one again as I used to have an acoustic solutions surround, but having heard a demo using this setup it was simply awesome for the price.

The Onkyo and Tannoy ones are speaker sets only ..... no amp of any description included.

If you want DTS decoding you'll need an amp to go with them.

If you are referring to the Acoustic Solutions system and the Yamaha there is a big difference, the Acoustic Solutions has a total of 100watts where the Yamaha has 5x 100watts.
