Okay i realise there is probably about 15 thousand threads with this sort of thing in it, but i dont care? I wouldnt know which 1 to post in lol so im starting a new one

Nothin interestin really, i aint got any spoilers or anything, just interested in everyones opinions on these characters and whether or not they'l return etc or if you want any of them to?

As far as i know they are all supposedly dead atm? But its Dr Who an we all know anything can happen? How many times has Mr Master died an turned up again, Davros, etc...

So the questions are...

Do we think any of them will be back for the specials?

And if so how would you like to see it dealt with?

And if not then what villains DO you think WILL be returning? Obviously we know about the Cybermen at xmas, but for the other specials, and next years season/series (i dno lol) do you think we'l see any of these?

Personally i hope not, its gettin really old, but wat are your thoughts on it?

***Oh yea, and not just villains, the Time Lords too lol i forgot them?

I hope the Master doesn't return, I felt it was a slight disappointment (actually, I haven't seen any of the Classic Master stories, so was he always a disappointing villain?) In the same way I've never seen a Rani story, but I would be interested in seeing this character. I've only seen another Timelord in Genesis of the Daleks, and that was for all of a few minutes ... didn't really appeal. Actually, I don't think I do want the Timelords to return - it would break down the whole "alone" persona the Doctor has had since series 1 (New) and bring a different perspective to the character.

As for Davros ... I really want him to come back, I thought Julian Bleach was fantastic, but that would mean a return of the Daleks and I really think they need a rest now!

I Don't think The Rani will come back ever, She isn't much cop (A female Master basically) and seems a strange choice for a returning villain

I can' see and hope that The Time Lords coming back for a very long time, not until after Moffat has moved on.

Davros I think will return but I don't think it will be for a few years at least (Season 6 or 7 maybe)

The Master will probably turn up in a special, but I am not particularly bothered either way

For the specials there is a lot of rumours about
Spoiler
Sea Devils returning, possibly in the same story as the Master

They come from reliable-ish sources on another forum but I take all this with a pinch of salt anyway.

I reckon Moffat if he does bring back anything will bring back either The Zygons or Ice Warriors in Series 5

I would like to see the Wirrn return personally, What with their need to assimilate information and the whole use of Race Memory within the species, I think a very interesting story is waiting to be told using the Wirrn.

By the sounds of Maffats interviews i doubt you'll see any of them back, although the Slitheen may make a return.

Why Slitheen? I doubt he would be interested in the Slitheen. I could see him using the Weeping Angels again!

He is being a bit coy about it, I wouldn't be surprised if no returning old series villains/monsters come back in Series 5 but If he stayed 3 - 4 years I can't see him never dipping in the pot. Listening to interviews he has done over the last Ten years or so I imagine he would want to bring back a more sleek, stealth version of The Cybermen rather than what we have now.

Also I doubt he will leave the Daleks on the backburner for too long and I think he would probably be tempted to bring back some of the others in future seasons as well. no matter what he says!

All this stuff about its aimed at 8 year olds is worrying and 8 year olds like farts

I always thought new Who was a family show.

Hardly points to the Slitheen coming back really does it
8 years olds I am sure like lots of other things as well as farts

It is a family show, I think all he is saying really is that some of us (Me included) expect it/think it is something it isn't!
Wheras in reality the first people it should be out too impress is 8 year old kids not University lecturers who sit watching it stroking their beards commenting how clever the Science involved is. Beautiful thing about Doctor Who is it appeals right across the spectrum.

Slitheen, possibly the worst villainous characters ever? Lol iv neva seen a rani ep, i just thought id throw her in because of all the 'Donna is clearly the Rani' speculation lol

Im not against seeing returning characters, as long as it is done cleverly? I dont wana see the Daleks at all this season, using them and having them defeated every year is destroying their image? Wen they first came back they was the most feared ones!! The hardest to beat? Now its a regular occurance! Give them a rest?

Id love to see more episodes away from earth? I dno, maybe on home planets of monsters or wat not? Whether they be old or new!! The equivalent of an episode on Skaro, but for a different species? Its too earth bound atm imo...

I'd only like the master to return if they could find a good plot in which he degenerated back into Derek Jacobis Yana.
As for the Time Lords , I don't want them to return on masse but perhaps a Gallifreyan equivalent of the cult of skaro. In other words , they had void technology like the genesis ark , that enabled about four timelords to hide out from all space and time. You could have a situation where at the end of the Time War, ignores Romanas quest for her to fight and die alongside him before he tricks her into being on board such a void ship. Whatever then causes his regeneration into doc9 , then distorts his memory to believe he is the last of the timelords. In a respect he is the last of his kind in the universe (apart from The Master who's hidden by Cham arch technology) but remains unaware of the 4 TL's in the void.
I also liked the concept of a time lock we saw in the most recent series finale. What's to stop another Davros, The Master and another villain popping in through the door, kidnapping Romana and involving her in another plot to ensnare the Doctor further on in their own individual timeline.
