'Uk Orange'
My Nokia 6610 keeps flicking between the network names 'Orange' and 'Uk Orange'.
Any ideas why? Cheers |

If you are on the coast in the South East of England eg Dover it may be roaming on to Orange in France hence going between UK Orange and Orange. If you nowhere near France then I dont know why it would be doing it. But I wouldnt worry anyway. Orange Frances network code is 208 01 UK Orange is 234 33. The prefix gives the country identification.

If it flicks over to France, would it be classed as a phone call from France?

Read his profile. I'm not an expert on UK geography, but I'm assuming the East Midlands is nowhere near the south coast?
And it would charge you for a phone call from France. |

Just a quick note that if any member of DS does live on the south east coast and are having problems with roaming to French Networks - set your mobile phone to manual search for network rather than automatic and bob's your mothers brother!

Cheers What I suspect is happening is that your phone has UK Orange in it's memory, as there are Orange networks throughout Europe now. When it looses coverage or changes transmitters, the phone memory is being read first before the SIM notices it is back on the home network and displays the preferred name. I don't think it is anything to worry about personally. A firmware upgrade in the future might resolve it. Simon. |
