Cheapo home cinema + Xbox 360?

As stated, I have an out-of-the-box JVC home cinema that I would dearly love to put my 360 through, trouble is the I/O on the back of the DVD player is limited to twin SCARTs and clamp sockets for the 5.1 wires.

Is there anything I can do, short of buying a new home cinema (I've no complaints with this JVC, it's loud, rich, and I've never once had a rattle from a speaker at full vol)?

Ta guys.

Whats a 'clamp socket' ?

Is that where you connect the speakers to the unit?

Most of these all-in-one dvd/surround systems only output sound from their own DVD player. Most don't have inputs for additional sources.

If you have twin SCART only, you're not going to be able to connect the 360 up to it.

If you're gonna replace it, replace it with a separate amp and speakers. Better sounds and far more flexible than an all-in-one.

By that I mean a simple spring loaded lever which you press down to receive the copper, and let go to clamp it in.

Yeah, I thought I was screwed. Good job Christmas is on the horizon...

Cant you get an S-video adapter cable [click] for the XBox and a svideo to SCART adapter [click] - its very common (with in/out direction switch).

Of course depends on what signals the input/output SCART socket on hifi and TV can handle. But S-Video is very common.

Why on earth would you do that when there is an offical xbox scart cable: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Madcatz-Scar.../dp/B000BQUV7A which supports RGB ? In any case, scart isn't 5.1, and its completely useless if the xbox is connected by HDMI or component.

Does your jvc unit not have an audio in? I used to have an old toshiba 5.1 in a box system that i could plug things into it. I had to select prologic II which isnt true 5.1 but an approximation of it. Sounded fine to me though.

^^^

One or two all-in-ones allow for additional inputs.

But .... that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.
