Mp3 players with inbuilt FM transmitter.

I'm after a cheap Mp3 player with an inbuilt FM transmitter, it need only be a glorified usb stick and nothing fancy. It doesn't even need a large memory. 1-2 GB would be plenty.

I'm sure I saw one in the maplin catalogue a few months back but the guy in the shop looked at me like I was from Mars when I asked him.

Anyone know of anything?

small capacity mp3 players are a bit dated now. You can however choose a mobile phone with onboard mp3 player + FM radio. My Sony W810i has both as well as an expandable memory. The basic phone features 512Mb Ram, but you can upgrade to a max of 8GB using the card slot.

What use is a built in FM radio?

It's an FM transmitter (to send the music to car stereos and the like I assume) he's after.

And by the time you bought a phone, memory card (and a separate transmitter to get what the OP wants) it'd cost a heck of a lot more than a cheapo USB stick type MP3 player ....

I would have thought/hoped so!

Did you click my link?

Come to think of it ..... did you realise it was a link!

Click on the "google is your friend" text I posted in post #2 ...

It'll take you to a google shopping search that lists several 1gb/2gb players with built in transmitter ..... ie. exactly what you were asking for in the first place!

Such as:

http://www.sourcingmap.com/rio-1gb-c...l?currency=GBP
http://www.724deal.com/1gb-7-channel...l?currency=GBP
http://www.uber-digital.com/epages/e...l&Locale=en_GB
http://www.wossat.co.uk/product_deta...ned-90395.aspx

etc etc.

There are also plenty of them on ebay.

When I looked last week Luton Maplin had their 2Gb Prosound Mp3 player with built in FM transmitter for £29.99 but I notice its no longer mentioned on their website. I guess its worth ringing for any local stock. I have one of these and its great. It comes supplied with a plug in antenna and gives out a strong signal especially when on charge! Sound level can be a bit fussy but altering the playback equalisation sorts any problems with distortion through the FM transmitter. On the downside audio can sound a bit thin through average headphones. I use mine mainly for FM playback as it covers the whole house and garden nicely. Unlike some transmitters the range of frequencies covers the whole FM band so it isn't restrictive in places like London where an empty frequency can be difficult to find. Its worth the price ( even if it is relatively low capacity ) for the convenience in not having to plug two devices together. By the way battery life is around 5 hours when out and about using the FM transmitter. I tend to use it at home plugged into a USB power supply unit and leave it running all day so I have my very own radio channel. How quaint is that????

Its cheap , it aint perfect BUT it sounds like it could do the job for you .....

I'm after something like this. I am a delivery driver and listen to my mp3 all day at work in my van. I am fed up of keep having to take my fm transmitter and mp3 player in so something like this sounds good. But I do 10 hour days so need something with 10 hours battery life really.
