I used to love instant mash, especially Smash but when I was at uni I thought I'd go on the Smash diet - nothing but instant potatoe for a week. I haven't been able to touch it ever since.

I also went off red meat because when I was at school they used to serve us 'meat' pies which were just gristle and tubes in pastry. And once I had a piece of pork with what looked like a hairy nipple attached to it.

Anyone else been put off their favorite foods for some reason?

Pork pies.

Used to love 'em, but then cooked one from scratch. Let's just say that there are some things you are better off not knowing.

A friend of my used to work in a factory making Scotch eggs. I'm just glad I was never fond of them, especially after the stories she used to tell me.

After 12 years working in a butcher shop in my youth, no one needs to know what goes into sausages. But our shop had the reputation of the best sausages in Bournemouth.

I'm getting so that I can't stand chocolate - and that's just SO wrong!
I used to happily eat the big bar of either Milky Bar or Dairy Milk in one sitting watching a movie, but now 2 squares and I think "why am I doing this - it's horrible" I suspect being diagnosed diabetic 7 years ago has something to do with it, but it's taken 6 of those years to feel like this.

Potato waffles.

Ate them for years and years and years, but just recently it's got to the point where eating more than one (sometimes not even that) makes me feel sick.

Southern Comfort.

Erm ... I agree with the potato waffles. Actually, any kind of frozen food. It just doesn't appeal at all anymore. I'm going to Uni in four weeks, I'm sure there'll be more things to add to the list by the time I graduate ... spaghetti hoops on toast?!

Yep, I've had bad experiences with both whiskey and Fray Bentos pies (those cans are lethal!!!) and haven't been able to touch either since, even the smell turns my stomach.

USED TO LOVE BUT NOW CAN'T TOUCH....

Vodka - not one single bad experience from this drink but the sheer thought of the taste in my mouth makes me shiver now.

Super Noodles - any flavour. Had these all my student life but now just the smell of them will make me gag.

Chicken - yup, can't eat chicken. The reason? I went on holiday in 2005 to Barcelona with a close friend. We sat in a nice restuarant and ordered the Chicken Paella. The chicken was more like gristle and bones but the whole "when in Rome" ethos kicked in. We ate the food with equal measures of wine... and even more wine... and even more wine.
Anyhoo, we got back to the hotel and I was throwing up EVERYWHERE. The next morning, feeling very worse for wear, i stumble into our hotel bathroom and the jumper I was wearing the previous evening was hanging over the sink with various bits of vomited rice and chicken sticking to it.
I have tried several times to conquer my Chicken phobia but I literally dry heave as soon as I see it heading to my mouth.

Dairy Lea Dunkers. Can't believe I ever willingly put that strange clash of textures in my mouth.

And those square sheets of orange 'cheese' in plastic. God knows what they actually are.

Well it wasn't so bad I needed my stomach pumped, thank god, but I did have the worst morning of my life the day after

Lol, if I even see a bottle of the stuff my stomach does a little wobble. Not good

Vesta packets of curry - I thought they were the business when I was young and foolish! God knows what they were made of and I couldn't eat one now.

Also lamb. My house is on a working sheep farm so I'm surrounded by them. I love watching all the lambs arrive around April but as the months go by a can see them growing into chops and legs of lamb so its off the menu now!

They've moved cows into the field next door - looks like beef is the next thing to go.....

I'm another one who rarely eats lamb!!!

Years ago my Mum cooked a cheap leg and there was obviously something wrong with it as when it was carved it smelt bad. I didn't even have a taste of it but only now over a decade later can I actually eat it on occasion.

My Nan overfeed me on stuffing when I was young so I didn't eat it for about 20 years, I still only like the homemade stuff now though!!!

Cannot touch any dark spirits apart from Rum and Southern Comfort - although I used to drink them I cannot say I ever liked whiskey or scotch. You kind of had to make do with what you could pilfer from the folks drink cabinet back in those days though!!
