TV stand

With a 42" LCD TV is there any reason why it cannot sit on a smaller 80cm stand advertised for a 37" TV?

Yes it may seem a daft question

However 99% of the equipment going on to the stand, Dvd Sky box, etc, is so small I cannot see the point in paying £30 for a larger stand when the 42" Lcd, with its table top stand, will still sit on smaller stand .

As long as the stand is rated for the weight of the TV, then there's no problem.

I've got my 42" on a 32" glass stand for the same reason.

Never thought of the weight issue .

Many thanks.

It's unlikely to be a problem, because modern sets are lighter than older sets (usually), and a 32 inch stand is rated to carry an old heavy 32 inch.
