Blu Ray - Jurassic Park, the trilogy. Blockbuster had this for just £20, so I bought it as a birthday present for my son, amongst other things.

DVD - Gladiator. Special edition, preowned but in perfect condition, cost me £2.40.

Just watched it.

I was very critical of the film when I first saw it in the cinema, perhaps as I hate 3D, perhaps as the hype put me off.

This was only the second time I've ever seen it, and the first time I've seen the extended cut.

And... I loved it! Very enjoyable, and easily *the* best picture and audio of any Blu-ray Disc I have ever watched. A true reference disc for any system.

The Italian Job (1969) (£7 Asda)
Started off with watching the 2 HD trailers which looked OK'ish, but not enough to justify an upgrade and thought maybe I should of just stuck with the DVD, however I was pleasantly surprised when I played the film as it's an excellent transfer to BD .

I saw this recently on Freeview HD and was amazed at how good the quality was. It just proves that age has nothing to do with the quality of blu-rays.

The Artist

thought I'd give it a try since it was fairly cheap but Jesus wept, it was just tedium personified.
