It's early still but since clips are starting to surface...From what I've seen it seems to be:

John and Kristina - waltz
Matthew and Christine - salsa

The boys are either doing waltz or cha cha.

Girls are doing salsa or foxtrot.

Anyone seen any other clips so we have an idea of who's doing what?

Yup for some bizarre reason they've decided for the first time this year not to do Quickstep and Rumba second week.

Im glad they arent doing Rumba 1st week - the first rumbas are usually disappointing although Kelly and Alesha did well last year.

The technique is a very hard thing to master and more experience will lead to better rumbas later in the show -imo!

From reports today the list now seems to be:

John and Kristina - waltz
Matthew and Christine - salsa
Rachel and Vincent - Salsa
Mark and Hayley - Waltz

Think Anton and Gillian are Foxtrot from press reports.(However accurate they may be of course!) Shame, Anton doing salsa could have been entertaining!

I think Phil Daniels is doing the Waltz from a comment he made

Salsa is actually a great choice for the ladies' first dance - since there is relatively little footwork technique compared to the other dances. The skill in Salsa is in leading and following - so choreographed Salsa is about as easy as it's going to be.

Yup although replacing the QS with the Foxtrot seems to have made things harder in the ballroom!

possibly, although for ladies it could be argued that the foxtrot, as its slower, is easier for a beginner lady to just relax and follow, the quickstep at the level they dance is very hard and very fast. I'm sure if Gillian relaxes she'll have no problem following Anton's fantastic lead in foxtrot (gutted he's no longer doing the class I went to)

You only have to look at Fiona, Kate and Georgina to know that for some bizarre reason, Foxtrot suits some of the weaker dancers more than any of the others do!

I wonder if the remaining couples after weeks 1&2 will do the opposite dance after in weeks 3&4????

Does that make sense??????

Yes, so for example if Tom and Camilla dance the Cha-Cha in Week 1 and survive, do they dance the Waltz in Week 3? Is that what you mean ?

Yes... that's it!

Then if Rachel & Vincent are doing the Salsa week 2 and survive they'll tackle the Foxtrot week 4???

Maybe....

That would be fairer, in the past some of the contestants have 'cheated' slightly (IMO) by doing ballroom or latin in two shows running... this way they have to do one ballroom and one latin in their first two outings.

With so many couples, are they doing what they did last year with boys one week, girls the next?

I am afraid that they are doing that for the first FOUR weeks! Boys out first week, girls second, boys third, and girls fourth. I am afraid that last year was a bit spoilt for me by doing that for TWO weeks, let alone FOUR!!!! I think it is a huge mistake. If they wanted to extend the series (another mistake in my view) they could have come up with a different formula, like no evictions first couple of weeks, so that everyone has to do a ballroom and a latin dance.

I think they do it so we don't get bored sitting though 16 dances...

I dare say I'd cope!

I really hope they do alternate so that they perform latin one week then ballroom and visa versa, because in past shows it has been a bit unfair.

I reckon I could handle it too. With a big mug of tea and a box of maltesers!

I hate the 'boys out first week, girls out second week' thing - I want to see them all on the first night, jeez!

Totally agree! It is also unfair, as if, say, the girls are on the whole stronger than the boys, a better dancer goes before they should (or vice versa of course). There is more chance of going in one out of six or seven, than one out of 16 or 15.

I'm already upset at the thought of one of the boys leaving. How this show affects us!

Looks as though Matt & Christine may actually be starting with Foxtrot.
