Are the judges' reaction shots edited in afterwards?
When you see the judges' reactions to the "bad" auditionees - which are typically trying to stifle giggles, sniggering behind their coffee mugs and looking incredulously at each other - are they all in context or are they edited in in post production?
It's just that nobody ever seems to notice or be put off their singing. You'd think it would affect their performance, or they'd flash one of the judges a dirty look - or even stop singing and snap "Sorry, am I missing a joke here?" Especially when they see themselves as good singers and legitimate candidates in the competition. Just makes me wonder a bit. Maybe I'm naive to think they would be genuinely in context... |

I think its a mixture. I don't think anyone could sit through half of those auditions and not laugh! I think some reaction shots are genuine, I'd say others are edited in from other auditions to make one seem funnier. But there was one time last year when Dannii said "yes" in exactly the same way, dressed exactly the same. Basically it was the same clip played over 2 auditions.

Of you watch back the video clip of Edna (old granny) and that audition. SO many shots were shot after it had happened. Very clever editing.
