Just a little bump to the thread.

Gary and Karen best of luck, I'm sure they will get through. I'm so excited about tonight.

Hello Biskie
I really hope so. I heard they are working very hard, and he's getting some good moves.

Hi lady latina

Good moves yes, get those hips moving Gary but let's skip the shots of Arlene drooling.

No favourites for me yet - but there are some I hope to see do well, Gary and Karen amongst them; I'm pleasantly surprised at how well he moves.

Gary keeps himself fit - witness the 6 pack he displayed when he discarded his chef's coat on Hell's kitchen - should stand him in good stead.

Well I don't have a favourite couple yet, but I have favourites profesionals, and Karen is my favourite female professional so I want her to do well, not necesary to win but to do well.
And Garry is not too bad, I do love his recipes.

Karen seems to be one of those you love or hate. I love her

I'm not keen on Rachel Stevens but after the public breakdown of Vincent/Flavia's relationship last year, I'd like to see him do well.

I know, but I love Karen. I don't want her to go out first.

Well I hope Erin does well, but we'll have to see how all the couple get on. My main concern is no matter how good Garry and Karen perfom tonight, because the others pro has a big fan base they might not get enough votes.

I'm the same LL. I adore Karen and I'll be gutted if she goes out first again. However this year I have so many favourites it'll be daft to vote for them all, Pauline Quirke style!

Anyway I wish Gary and Karen all the best for tonight and I may bung them one vote if they look to be in danger

Also have my fingers crossed that Karen will be dancing with Matthew in the pro dances, although Matthew may not be involved in them this weekend as he's dancing with Alesha. That paso on DOTDF was sizzling!

Well just a few minutes for the progran star.
Good luck Karen and Garry.

Well after that I think he will be very lucky to survive, though Craig's score was pretty ridiculous.

I thought he'd give at least a 2. You have to laugh though. Bless he did try, and he showed the right kind of attitude after the comments.

I thought it was really unfair of Craig to give 1. It was by no means the best dance but surely you get 1 for turning up! I think Craig guaranteed them a place in next week's show with that score.

I think Gary did well for week one and that score Craig gave him was a disgrace,. In fact Craig was a disgrace. He is the one who should be going home tonight - oops I mean "tomorrow".

I like Karen. I was a bit disappointed tonight as it didn't seem like Karen and Gary had done much preparation. I know it's only week one, but I was expecting more from Karen already. I hope she picks up the pace and concentrates on getting the fundamentals sorted out for Gary. As other people have commented here, he seems to be a fast and keen learner so maybe Karen can get into another final...

Speaking in hypotheticals without getting into spoiler territory, I think it'll be great if they make it through this week. Then they are guaranteed at least another 2 weeks on the show and once the men and women join together, I tend to think they'll make it through at least another 2 or 3 weeks after that... and that's if Gary doesn't improve.

I think he would though because Karen has identified his perfectionism being a problem. It seems like he was so focused on one or two things that it didn't allow them to work on the dance/performance as a whole.

I also tend to think he'll be better at ballroom.

Gary has always seemed smug to me, but I did feel sorry for him tonight.

I hope Gary bans Craig from his restaurants.

Actually I don't get the fact that everyone thinks Gary is arrogant and smug. He took the criticism very well. He is a perfectionist, which just means it takes him longer to get the overall dance. However, if he stays in (and I don't know any spoilers), he might get really good. Good luck to them (but I hope Karen comes up with some good routines that suit him).

I think that Gary has potential.

I find Garry Rhodes annoying and irritating.

He was nitpicking the whole time and analysing. I hope he relaxes and remembers to enjoy himself but he comes across as one of those people who are such perfectionists that he's forgotten he's there for entertainment.

I can't bear to watch him as a chef either I just find him irritating so hope he goes tonight!

You're welcome to your opinions but perhaps the Karen / Gary appreciation thread isn't the best place?

I was disappointed in Gary's performance and it is quite clear that he and Karen haven't got their relationship onto the best footing yet.

However, I am other person who doesn't understand all the negativity towards Gary. He is genuinely a many Michelin starred chef, has worked his way up from nothing and you don't achieve those sorts of things without working extremely hard and having quite a big ego. He is a perfectionist. What is with GBP that we want to praise the lovable clutz or people who say 'oh it's nothing really' rather than admire tenacity, hard work and talent?
