Finally got all important recordings watched from the box.

Bought in Nov 2007 - took it back today and got a full refund.

Shop assistant didn't really want to know why, didn't even mention I had box for 10 months.

Now all I need is a replacement.

No, I disabled the tutv immediately. All I want is:

1) a pvr that will record 2 channels at same time, and play back a recording from the library/planner

2) be silent at all times when in use or otherwise

3) record every programme I ask it to

4) play back recordings at all times

5) produce pq equivalent to the freeview pq of my tv

6) have rewind / FF functions that work

7) not freeze, then switch off when deleting a recoding (especially when recording other progs)

8) have a 14 day epg

9) series recording would be a bonus

10) contain a large disk

11) look pleasing to the eye

12) have hdmi connection

not too much to ask really is it?

plus
decent price £100 (already have 2 pvr)
2 year warranty
quality tech support
timely software updates
no forced downloads

nb with digital switch volumes will reduce overheads & increase
profits. the cost of disk, 2/3 tuners, chipset, manf is still reducing
and worldwide adoption should increase standards.

not worried so much for price - willing to pay for right product
good idea
if product is good tech support not required
only a requirement if software doesn't work properly

yeh but "quality pvr" eg topfield 5810 is £270 (not 14day epg), humax 9300 is £180 and appears to be an interim product (&noisy).

software is the key to useability and most pvr appear under developed. my thomson 4000 is extinct but excellent - only 40gb and no series/hdmi.
