i think you have the timing wrong-katie must have exercised one of her options in the rise contract and landed the huge job at BBC TOTP(if it is true what has been reported it is massive and may even be too much for her).
I think she would genuinely have wanted to continue the sunday job but if capital were relaunching generally they may have thought they could not have one of their headline shows run by someone who might go at any moment when BBC excercised their options(if they are investing the amount suggested they would have loads of hold on Kate for promotional work and radio etc-sadly she cannot be king of two castles)
The report said she may do projects for capital-so that leaves the future open-she can guest on spots as time allows.

In what sense do you think the TOTP job, if it comes off, would be 'huge'? I simply can't imagine how it could possibly be too much for Kate. It's not exactly a demanding job, even for someone of Kate's limited abilities.

I am afraid i disagee (not picking on you but at least your points are thought out and can be replied to!)
i think it is commendable that kate is loyal to the BB massive and does what she can for the others despite being top dog(top bitch?).
Unlike a certain Irish boy who does not seem to care about his fellow HM's(I'm alright jack-or is it Jill?)
Also the whole point about her appeal is that her family and friends are so important to her that if they want to appear then that reflects well on them and on her.
Uniquely Kates life and personality are so well known from the house and she is being consistent out of the house and leading a big adventure.
Her appeal is to those younger than her and she needs to continue to act a little wild for now(its fun as well I'm sure)
I am sure her lack of preparation on the show is because she wants to keep things spontaneous as possible around the script(Iain of course is a very quick stand up comic and will always be sharper than Kate-shame he wastes it sometimes by bullying her )
