Richer Sounds and Region Free DVD
when I go into Richer Sounds they advertise 2 prices for many of their DVD players, one for R2 and one for Region Free. Does anyone know if there is in fact any difference in the players and whether the R2 players can be made region free where a handset hack exists?
thanks, Chris |

Generally players are more expensive multi-region when they have had to "chip" player which is non-hackable like Sony.
A machine which is known to be handset hackable should be OK to buy Region2 and then hack it yourself. Some companies will already do the hack before sending them out. |

thats what I thought, i couldn't imagine there being 2 versions. So its just Richer Sounds upping the price for something that can be done yourself for free?

I can remember RS doing the Wharfedale 750 when it was all the rage and that too being more expensive multi-region.

I'd rather pay the extra £10 up front, i know if it fails they will replace / fix it for the next year (or 3 in my case as it was an ex-display and thats was the discount they gave me)
