“Phil Daniels has bet £50 on himself to win Strictly Come Dancing, say reports.

The ex-EastEnders actor got odds of 20/1 on him triumphing in the reality show, reports The Mirror.

Daniels, who played Kevin Wicks on the BBC soap, will partner last year's runner-up Flavia Cacace.

The actor has previously raced the London Marathon and is a trained knifethrower.”

Hmm! That sort of behaviour will win him the support of fans...

In America they'd call it confidence... it Britain we call in arrogance.

Perhaps he's banking on the Mavian support base...

I'm certain that Di Angelo will be turning up to show his backing for his old TV daddio... and I suppose it helps he's been paired with Flavia.

But will his fan base follow suit I wonder?

I don't know about arrogance but I think he's wasted the £50

Some people like to do that kind of thing as a motivational boost I think.

Have remembered that Matt Dawson also bet on himself to win...only in the final week though, but to the tune of a £1000!

Looking at Phil, I just can't see it...not against everybody else who's there.

Maybe... How much does he stand to win in the unlikely event he pulls it off... £1050? I 'm not sure how bets work...

I think he gets £1000, plus his £50 stake returned?

Don't count on Matt turning up to support Phil, maybe he will but potentially that's going to be a bit awkward since Phil is dancing with his ex-girlfriend! I'd give it a miss if I was him...

I remember Matt Dawson betting the £1000, he was going to give the profits to CIN. I said at the time he'd have been better giving the £1000 to CIN

I like it. Shows he has a good sense of humour.

If it is true, we are talking about 50 pounds - sounds more like a sense of humour than arrogance to me.

Good luck Phil. He ran the marathon this year, so he has stamina. I am looking forward to seeing him on the dance floor - looking forward to all of the couples actually.

Sounds very tongue in cheek to me - a bit of a laugh. He seems like a great guy and I wish Team Phlavia well!

Tongue in cheek it might be but at least he is obviously going to be trying.

And its certainly not arrogance.

Loving Phil already he seems very confident if hes placed a bet on himself.. and why not nothing wrong with that...plus he has the Gorg Flavia teaching him so he has to do well Im sure Matt Di Angelo will go and support him why wouldnt he, Phil supported him last year.....I for one would love to see his gorgeous face in the audience......Aevin you seem to have an issue with all things Flavia related!!!!

Don't you have a sense of humour? At least Phil Daniels does...

I agree, noviomagia! Phil seems to have a good sense of humour, which should stand him in good stead during the competition.

What now I'm not allowed to comment on anything Flavia related?

I do have a sense of humour but I think, tounge in cheek or not, betting on yourself is a bit on the cocky side. I'd think the same if it was Lilia's partner or Ola's partner. I actually like Phil Daniels for his work outside of Eastenders a lot especially for Quadraphenia... Flavia's actually lucky to be paired with such a British acting legend.

I doubt he did it because he seriously thinks he's going to win! If he did, he might have been tempted at a bit more money, he's got some pretty good odds there!

Comment on what you like im just replying to it with my opinion... and thats you seem to have a problem with all things Flavia related lately ..... Phil is a legend and im glad he has conidence in himself... good to see as so many celebs dont go into it with a lot of confidence......Still think hes done it as a laugh though he seems a funny guy!!!!!!
Who Am I?

I think its funny - more like cheeky cockney wide boy than arrogant. Shows a good sense of humour and not taking himself too seriously.

What a surprise if he could actually dance too!

Well I don't , I only have an issue with one aspect that is Flavia related and I've made my views known on that.... And my post here is not related to that.

Multi-dimensional thinking... it's great....

The more I find out about Phil the more I like him.

He seems like a great laugh!

Also, he might be a dark horse you never know??

I think he's great as well and am really looking forward to seeing him and Flavia. I think its a shame some people are already queuing up to criticise people before they have danced a single step.

I think it was most probably said in a jokey way..like as if he was being sarcastic about it. Doesn't seem seriously arrogant and cocky..just funny

I don't think I'd rush to criticise a trained knife thrower!!!!

Lol I remember that. There was, of course, outrage from some on the forum

This is my first visit to the SCD forum this year I'm getting excited.

I don't think it was done in an arrogant way, more a jokey sort of way.

Thank you

During SCD4 I practically lived on here. Most of my posts probably came from then lol.
