I read it is possible to get your VCR to automatically start recording when your sky digibox goes onto autoview....

is this true or a rumour ?

(I am unsure if this is digital satellite - technical matter or not)

Not exactly, if you have a Panasonic VCR connected to the VCR Socket of the Sky Box, with the SCART going into AV2, AUTOVIEW will start the VCR recording when you have it in EXT LNK mode (see the manual for the menu options to select). Brillent feature

Philips and JVC models have this facility as well - I use it all the time. There are probably other brands as well, but these are the two I know for certain have it.
