Thinking about buying a Sony all in one DVD / 5.1 System as I haven't got room for a component one.

Model is DAVDZ260

Have tried to see if this has optical input, so I can run the 5.1 sound from my SKY HD through it but am getting conflicting results when looking on websites.

Anyone got any idea?

Thanks

ps found a good deal too - ARGOS want £199 but found it on the interweb for around £155!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COOL!

Thanks for the link.

Now, being a bit of a techno phobe, does this mean I can watch movies through my SKY HD box and listen in true 5.1 ?????????

(Sorry but it's an age thing..........)

Only if the movies have a true 5.1 soundtrack will you get true 5.1 surround out of the system. As if that isn't stating the bleedin' obvious

One good thing though, if the manual is to be believed, is that you can apply Dolby ProLogic decoding to a stereo signal. That will generate a surround sound signal from the stereo. Not as good as true 5.1 but can be pretty convincing given the right source material.

According to the sky+ / hd Planner, most of the movies ARE broadcast in 5.1.
If this is the case and this system CAN decode them via the optical input, it will be a worthwhile purchase.

Please help, dazed and confused now

Love to BUT haven't got room.

Well actuallly that's not strictly true but the MRS hates too much, as she puts it "clutter"
