Second Time Around

it's never as good.....or is it just me?

I've seen the second series begin of German, English and Swiss Big Brother and to be honest, none are comparible to the first series. Everyone of course has seen the first series and I think this takes away from the whole thing.

Personally I think it was far more compelling first time round and the people were more interested as everything was new to them. This time, they have some expectations, no matter how tall or small, and I think there are far more hidden agendas in the house.

Does anyone else think this? I don't know how the figures compare but last I heard, they were not as high as expected.

I thought about this long before the series started - how would we compare the new lot to Craig, Anna, Nasty Nick and the others from last year.

However, Channel 4 have introduded a few new things - a new-look house, the 11th housemate, E4 interactivity to try and make things different, and I think it's working. After all, there were 1 million calls in the eviction vote last week (though this does not mean 1m callers, an many people called more than once). It was well into series 1 before this figure was reached - and exceeded.

It's only two weeks into the new series, and with BB promising the unexpected it will probably make the second series as successful as the first.

As for series three....

Nick was what made the first series unmissable. His cheating, scheming and back stabbing was fantastic to watch as he fooled his fellow housemates. Then the inevitable happened and he was rummbled. This culminated in the grand showdown like something from an Agatha Christie who done it, with him trying to bluff his way out of it only to be confronted with the damning evidence written on scraps of paper in his suitcase.

For me the first series was much much duller after he was thrown out and I always thought this series would not live up to the first one. That said so far I am enjoying this one more than the later stages of last years BB.
