GO! GO! GO! Louisa and Vincent...

Doing a fusion of Paso Doble, Jive and Tango...
To the song Paint It Black performed by Lee Mead

That's Eurovision Dance Contest on BBC1 at 20:00 til 22:15.

Terribly exciting!

But hoping voting doesn't get political like it does in singing contest...

I have a horrible feeling that the voting will be political but I think I read somewhere that there are four judges who will have the same weight as four voting countries, so that should make it a bit fairer.

I'm going to enjoy the dancing and Craig and Len's comments and hopefully not be too irritated by the voting.

Do have to admit last year Brendan and Camilla seemed somewhat clinical when they danced... And Camilla wore some shockingly awful frocks... too. The stripping away to a bikini thing also seemed a bit too contrived.

won't watch anything Eurovision is so rigged

I think most people know Eurovision results are rigged, and we have little or no hope of success, but why not watch it just to enjoy the dancing? You could always switch off before the results!

Not even for the pleasure of watching great dancers...

It's not like the singing with each nation producing songs that alienate others... Polish Techno vs Irish turkeys etc.

Come off it Aevin! clinical? pfffftt! If they'd turned up in bin bags and sat playing cards for their alloted time they'd still have looked better than most of the dross they were up against...and their score would probably have been the same

I think you need reminding watch it for yourself...

Their rumba (in my opinion lacked warmth):

Their 2nd dance the Bond thing was just... I dunno

The dress was weird...

I think Louisa and Vincent's performance tonight will have much more warmth if not technical excellence (Camilla being a pro and that)

Now look at the winners:

I wanted GB to win of course and it annoys me to admit the Fins deserved it more. BUT I do object that GB didn't score higher cause some of those between us and the winners were pants.

I don't need reminding, I've got it on dvd thanks!

I said at the time that i thought the Fins certainly deserved to win it, no problem with that! It was most of the other entries that finished above them I found either questionable or downright laughable, along with most others who bothered to comment at all

Quite happy with your view of their Rumba, cos as you say, that's your opinion and the James Bond theme i wasn't ecstatic about, but I couldn't think of anything with a British theme that would have been better...Morris dancing? Robin Hood? Wouldn't have fancied the idea of Brendan in tights tbh, although I daresay one or two others might disagree

It's the Camilla and Brendan combo... I know they were once pro partners but they just don't work for me....

When I watch Camilla rumba with Ian it's quite different...

Likewise Brendan's rumba with Kelly

I don't understand how the contestants are chosen for this competition. Why did we not have the winners of Strictly i.e Alesha and Matt as our representatives? Why and who chose Louisa and Vincent. I don't know what Louisa Lytton has been doing but it's a long time since she danced on Strictly.

The last time we had two pro's representing the UK, why not this time?

Paace, there's not two pros this time because the rules state that it must be a pro and a non-dancer. Not that the Greeks and the Azerbajanis are following that rule but that's what it should be.

As for how Louisa and Vincent were chosen I'm not sure. Louisa was on the tour last year so she has danced recently. Perhaps Alesha and Matthew were asked and declined.

I think others were asked first tbh Paace and either couldn't do it or didn't fancy it...Other commitments, that sort of thing!

It's not been that long since Louisa and Vincent danced together - they did the SCD tour and were very good by all accounts! Certainly don't think they'll let us down

This year was supposed to be pro-am or pro-celeb...Although one or two countries don't appear to have been sent the memo
