Soya Beans

Bought a bag of these from Tesco the other day because I was intrigued. I've heard them talked about as the new bar snack. The healthy peanut.

I would say they taste a bit like pistacio nuts.
They say they are roasted and salted but I think next time i'll add some salt to them. Probably taking away the health benefits

I prefer Cashew nuts but they are so expensive.

Just had the last of these. They definately need the extra salt. Apologies to the salt brigade

Anyone else tried them?

I love Soya beans, I like the dried ones as a snack but you can now buy frozen one which i like too especially with a knob of garlic butter on them.

I've never tried them as a veg. I'll have to get a bag in. I made some garlic butter last night so that could be a good combo

I bought some pumkin seeds yesterday and fried a few up with some salt and sugar and I think they tasted almost exactly the same as the soya beans.

What happened to TVP? When this 1st came out, I can remember it shaped & flavoured as chops, fish, burgers, etc ,,,,,,,

I wouldn't touch soya with a 10 foot pole. You wouldn't believe how toxic it is.

Not without your providing some hard evidence from reputable sources why this is supposed to be the case, no, I wouldn't.

Have you tried Tesco value cashews?

Not pretty or the big whole nuts you get in the pricey packets, but they taste the same and at about £1 a bag, they don't break the bank.

I've tried them before but they just weren't the same as decent brands.

I have some edamame beans in the freezer, but never eat them because of the health concerns others posted.

Thanks Kizzie, that was brilliant, but you should have let him do his own homework. )

I have been making my own soya milk from beans for years and am still here - eat TVP weekly.
At least the beef and butter won't kill me but the wine might - such is life.

It's precisely because I've done my own homework that I'm in a position to say that the so-called "information" provided in those links is pretty largely baseless and groundless unscientific nonsense.

Well there's a surprise

I buy the frozen ones from tesco and sometimes have them instead of peas, really like the flavour. They are good in salads too. Might have to try the roasted ones though, I'm intrigued. As for the health concerns.......everything gives you a fatal illness nowadays according to scientists!

You were asked for evidence and links were provided.

Can you please now show us your homework on the subject, so that we can judge if you're right or wrong.
