In this context upscaling is the term used for the process of taking a standard definition source and processing it to fill a high definition display, all HD televisions upscale SD to fit their HD screen.
The PS3 is considered to be above average for scaling DVD and other content from it's hard drive given it's price point. Depending upon how good your HD telly is at upscaling the difference could be very noticeable and of course if you don't already use HDMI or component that may too offer some advantages over RGB scart. |

You shouldn't have many complaints. The PS3 is a worth piece of kit.
DVD's look very good on my 50" plasma, they even look good on my 8' screen through the projector. You can set the PS3 to upscale by selecting Normal in the DVD settings menu, if you wish your TV to upscale then select Off Try both settings to see which you prefer. |

Thank's, my tv is an LG 42PG6010 720p, am thinking of swapping it for 1080p, or should I sick with what I've got?

Don't swap just for 1080p, it won't be worth it.
