'Strictly' star struggling under pressure

Quote:
“Strictly Come Dancing star Christine Bleakley is suffering from stress after comparing herself to last year's winner Alesha Dixon, according to a report.

The TV host has been feeling pressured since discovering that her professional dance partner is Matthew Cutler, who was paired with Dixon on the 2007 series.

Things went from bad to worse for Bleakley when Matthew encouraged her to watch footage of Alesha's winning routines.

"Poor Christine probably has the hardest pair of dance shoes to fill - ever," an insider told the Daily Star Sunday. "Alesha took last year by storm and Matthew is keen to do the double. She's really feeling the pressure."

The source added: "She was really nervous before she started rehearsing and watching Alesha in action hasn't done her any favours. The producers are monitoring her progress as they are worried she might not be able to carry on."

The new series kicks off later this month on BBC One.”

Not sure what to make of this story...

I'm sure Matthew wasn't trying to pile on the pressure...
AND I doubt he's comparing her to Alesha or has similar let alone higher expectations. A great teacher knows their pupils limitations... If anything she should look at the vids as inspiration... if she can do it so can I.

I would be cross if she decided not to carry on because of "stress" and "pressure"... Look at poor Kate Garraway last year, wasn't a terrific dancer, had some bad injuries, slated by the judges and on the forums then Gabbygate kicked off... she still soldiered on didn't she.

And it's like Alesha said on Loose Women last year you're raising money for Children In Need at the same time.

I feel this is exaggerated. More hype for the programme.

I would take this story with a pinch of salt.

However, I can imagine Christine feels the some pressure (similar to Brian who partered Karen last year felt). It can't be easy being paired with a professional that won last year!

I suppose so... but if there is even the slightest element of truth in the story...

Christine should remember a big part of what viewers who warmed to Alesha was her genuine love and enthusiasm for the show.

Some people criticized Alesha for bopping along to the shows theme tune when the couples came out and lined up at the start of shows... I personally loved that. I would do the same.

I agree that this story is probably hugely exaggerated and I don't believe for a second that Matt would do anything to put any pressure on her.

I loved Alesha's warm and bubbly personality

I guess Christine has to be herself and impose her own personality and forget who preceded her. But it must be easier said than done!

I should imagine her contract wouldn't allow that. They aren't going to let anyone walk out and cause a problem just because they were finding it tough.

If there's any truth in this report, then I believe the only pressure comes from Christine herself. She doesn't want to look silly in front of the pro who won last year.

Hope she doesn't buckle under pressure...

i think its exagerrated but its understandable that she is slightly nevous dancing with Matt as he did win last year. I remember Brian last year said he was nervous dancing with Karen as he didnt want to let her down with her winning the year before.
Matt seems like the sort of pro that would be able to calm her down though if she is feeling anxious so i reckon she will be fine.
