Is it me or does it taste like vomit? Someone at work brought back Hershey Kisses from the States and it was really revolting!

it was the Hersheys Kisses I tried - after seeing them mentioned in books and stuff over the years I couldn't wait to try them - found out I had missed nothing

total let down imo - much like the Oreo bandwagon - hear so much hype about them they gotta be good

I have an American friend who came over here and couldn't believe the difference in the chocolate. She swore she'd never eat US chocolate again after tasting Galaxy.

I prefer the dark Hersheys than the milk one, doesnt taste as bitter strangely enough. Also like the crackle one.

Hershey Chocolate is truely disgusting.
Why Americans buy it I'll never know.

I don't like it so much. I'm quite happy with the Reece's Peanut Butter things, but their chocolate alone is just nasty.

However, Hershey are licensed to produce Cadbury chocolate in US - I dread to think what that tastes like!

A visitor brought us several bars.
I found it far too sickly sweet.
A bit like Cadbury's chocolate.

I love Reece's Peanut Butter Cups and Oreo's, but agree that Hershey's chocolate just tastes wrong to me. I think they use different milk or something.

Totally agree with you there-it's scary how much it actually tastes like vomit. :O
It's also scary how much Americans like it, I mean they even have a theme park and hotel dedicated to it. No wonder the hotel was handing out free hershey bars at the hotel I was staying at-they were probably trying desperately to get rid of of it!
Worst chocolate ever (and that's saying something, no chocolate should ever be bad )

Tee Hee - the first thing I thought when I read the thread titile was 'tastes like vomit' !

/ \

Then suspected that this would be an 'isn't it lovely' thread and my notion that it tastes of spew would not be well received.

Despite all the hype Hersheys really is quite awful. It's like very cheap cooking chocolate and I know exactly what people mean by the "vomit" taste!

I'm pretty sure that they also produce Kit Kat in the US under licence and it tastes pretty rank as well.

While UK chocolate may not be "proper" chocolate as far as European countries are concerned, it certainly suits my tastebuds better.

When I went to Texas a few years ago, I tried Hersheys & found it truly disgusting, the aftertaste alone was so bad I wondered what I had done to deserve it.

When I found that they hardly had any Cadburys, I stocked up on Oreos lol.

Uh, maybe because they like it? Americans might ask why anyone would eat Marmite. Tastes vary around the world.

Hershey's chocolate is pretty gross. I prefer Ghirardelli, but I'm not sure how available it is outside of California or larger cities.

What are good brands of English chocolate that might be available outside the UK? I have a local shop that imports English food and beverages - they might have it.

Still plugging away your website i see James. Shameless.

Anyway geoffSF. If you can import stuff, see if you can get your hands on any Green & Blacks chocolate, it's good stuff!

Hershey's chocolate is disgusting. Tried it myself. I thought that I had just had a dodgy bar of it or something. Quite hard to believe that anyone can like it. The original bars certainly taste like sick to be honest. I've thought about trying one of their other products that's available from Cybercandy.co.uk. Chances are though, that it will taste the same as the original.

People seem to write quite honest reviews of the range of products on there.

When I was younger I preferred Galaxy chocolate or anything by Mars (Masterfoods UK) but I now think I prefer Cadbury's much more.

Yes that was exactly what I thought when I tried it. My partner is American and regularly brings back US "candy" but is now under strict instructions to leave Hershey chocolate back in the good ol USA.

Tastes like baby sick. Or rather, what I'd imagine baby sick to taste like. Was so excited when I bought it from a "gas-station" too...
