I saw Midge Ure play at Retrofest in Scotland a couple of weeks ago and he was brilliant!

I was quite young when Midge and Ultravox were having hits so never really got into him, but he was so good I've had a look to see where and when he's playing next and luckily he's playing near me soon.

Its billed as an acoustic set with him playing old Midge/Ultravox stuff as well as some covers from his favourite artists. Anyone else seen him play an acoustic set? I quite fancy going to see him again, he rocked at Retrofest

No! I saw Ultravox 3 times in the 80's, met them and got one of the drum sticks signed by the drummer, Chris Cross. Got him to do an X!!!!!! FANTASTIC then and I heard him on the radio yesterday chatting. He has a covers album coming out. Mainly late 60's stuff. I would love to catch him live again. Best live track back then was Hymn. SUPERB

Chris Cross was the bass guitarist. Warren Cann was Ultravox's drummer.

Funny there should be a thread about Midge here as I bought his "Rewind - the greatest hits live" dvd a few days ago. It's very good, but bizarrely Russell Watson comes on stage and sings Vienna Are they bezzie mates or something?

Ah, I was just looking at buying the DVD, thanks for your recommendation, I might buy it now!

Well, I did see Midge's acoustic set and it was a amazing! He has such an incredible and powerful voice! I've had his greatest hits playing on my ipod pretty much constantly ever since!

If you get the chance to see his solo set, jump at it! I'm currently reading his autobiography too, being too young in the 80s to appreciate him, it's amazing to find out about his road to being in Ultravox via Slik (a Glaswegian boy band of the 70s!), Rich Kids and Thin Lizzy!

Who remembers Midge Ure singing Forever and Ever in the band Slik?!

1976, if I remember rightly.
