ASDA ONN SW2411A-DIVX - Please advise
Hey FM's
I bought this DVD Player (ASDA ONN SW2411A-DIVX) about 2 weeks ago and up until now it played everything I had thrown at it. Got up today and it will nolonger play my Divx/Xvid files from a DVD that I burn't and played fine yesterday. Upon other tests it also does not like backed up DVD's anymore and will not play them either, but original DVD's are fine. What I don't understand is how it cant read Divx/Xvid from DVD's one day and not the next? Please help, thanks FV |

I have owned a few Divx dvd players in the past but never the asda brand.
Normally I would suggest changing your media as there maybe some kind of issue with +r / -r discs or that the decoding chip has snuffed. But seeing as it no longer likes backed up discs then I would say the laser may have gone out of alignment which can happen when you least expect it & as the laser reads backed up discs slightly differently to originals then that could be the problem. My advice to you is to return it, if you still have the receipt or if you have to get a new 1, then I would suggest the Bush 1 from Argos priced at £25. Best of luck |

An update on the situation, my DVD player will no longer read any disc at all now so may as well take it back after only week or so.

Sorry about your bad luck! Have you any idea what replacement you might like to get?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Asda's 'On' make is really terrible and by rights should not be on sale. I have had/know someone who has had that make of toaster (lasted 1 month) kettle (lasted 2 months) and that make of steam iron (lasted 3 weeks) I know they're dirt cheap, but surely these things should last longer that a few weeks. |
