You are kidding, of course! Times have changed and production values have moved on - the new series will probably be 50 minute episdoes shot on film with CG effects. if they tried to make it the way it was in the seventies, nobody would watch!
They have got to make something which will appeal to a new audience (but also to the longstanding fans).
As has been mentioned before, the production values of the new Randall & Hopkirk are hopefully a good benchmark for new Who. Unfortunately that failed because of fairly unimaginitive writing and two stars with neither charisma nor talent.
Casting is going to be vital in the success of new Who - bad casting played a large part in the programme's downfall in the 80s. Effects have got to be realistic because that's what modern audiences expect. but they shouldn't be there for the sake of it - the story is still the single most important thing and with RTD at the helm, things could be very good indeed.
