I'm in the same boat.
The Sony is out now and you can pick it up for £209 with free delivery- however the Panasonic wont be out until mid -late October according to rumours. The Panasonic will no doubt be more expensive at around £250- £300- I expect it will be cheaper than the BD30 on launch but not by much. The Panasonic has a handy SD Card slot that's neatly tucked away at the front which the Sony doesn't- with the Sony you have to use a USB stick around the back- a lot USB sticks cant fit either because the port is recessed. The Sony has had some great reviews- the DVD Upscale quality is apparently very good as is Bluray. Some forums and reviews are saying that it now beats the PS3 in terms of overall goodness. The older Panasonic BD30 also had good reviews but some comments were put in about DVD up scale quality and the Uniphier or whatever chip that does all the stuff. apparently ther new BD35 and BD50 will have a new Uniphier Chip wich is supposed to be getting a ever better pic. I'm going to wait around and see what happens- If the Panasonic cant match the Sony on Price the Sony it will be. oh the Panasonic will be sexy black and a touch of silver. The Sony is still carrying the Sony Bluray player style of shiny Blue- wich may look odd under the Black and silver of your TV equip |

The panny got an excellent review very recently on stuff.tv and that's what's made me think which one might be best

UPDATE: Found a European site with a price of euros : the Pany is just over £302- THATS THE FIRST PRICE I HAVE SEEN!
http://www.technikdirekt.de/main/en/...uk&language=en Wait for more reviews first and user feedback on forums etc. - Also wait till the thing is out. Price wize the Sony seems best - In the stuff.tv review the panny didnt quite meet the sonys audio. they also said the sony is one of the best upscale players they have seen |

is that sony though that is incredibly slow and takes about a minute to open the drawer or is that a predecessor of this model?

The 350 has radically improved with disks loading in 20-60 seconds (like all blurays) |

that's one question mark I had about the Sony removed anyway! if it's cheaper then likely that'll tip the balance.
getting a new Sony tv so prob makes sense to have a sony blu ray as well! |
