Yes, and of course Sky were first to break the news I believe.

Funnily enough, Addicted to Love, his biggest hit, was actually number 1 on the day I was born back in 1985.

By which charts? It was never No1 as far as I recall but I shall check the old GBHS when I get home.

I heard this just a couple of minutes ago on the BBC news. He died through having a heart attack. A great song writer and singer. RIP

Oh, sorry, forgive me... I got it confused with "Easy Lover" (Phil Bailey/Phil Collins) which was no 1 on my birthday in '85. I believe Addicted To Love was released in '86.

He's actually much younger than I thought.

A shame when people go so young.

Very sad news. I wasnt a big fan but Addicted To Love was a fantastic 80s anthem. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans.

I never understood why they never re-released 'Johnny and Mary', which was used through many of the Renault commercials of the late 80's to mid 90's.

It would have been a big hit, I think. A great song.

Sadly missed.

In celebration of his life, can anyone point me to a url where the video addicted to love is available live streaming?
Suddenly want to watch it now
Or maybe a set of stills from it
Thanks

I'll always remember Robert for his breathtaking rendition of Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me" - a simply outstanding vocalist.

A genuinely shocking and tragic loss.

Oh my god, I thought this was going to be some witty thread, like saying Alistair was a better singer or something.

What sad sad news, I loved his voice.

Oh no! What a shock - haven't had radio on all day as I usually do (background in office) - so hadn't heard anything til I logged on here.

Such sad news - one of my faves
