Don't know if this has been on a thread before, but from 21st September, the BBC will, once again, be recording the results show for a Sunday night screening and, to quote Radiotimes.com:"With special performances and behind-the-scenes footage from the first show." They are padding the whole thing out for an hour from 8 till 9. They must be joking - we get enough repeats of reactions during the live show on Saturday - training, emotions. I had hoped that they would have realised that the results get out, and that nothing beats the tension of a live show, but 'no'. It's going straight up against Heartbeat, and TBH, I hope Heartbeat wins the ratings and the BBC rethinks its choice. Personally I will be on the live thread to know who has been eliminated. Surely, even the most devoted SCD fans do not want to see repeats of repeats of repeats of sequences just to pad out an hour of prime time TV... Rant over, but the choice to do this again has really annoyed me...

I'll watch it! The results show did really well last year for ratings, so I'm not surprised they're stringing it out. ITV were after having a Sunday results show for X Factor to try and compete with it at one point.

Main point for me is the pro dancing... hopefully there will be lots more fabulous group and solo routines this year.

I agree though they should stop doing the recap, it's far too long. And they should definitely stop replaying the recap on the Monday ITT... I mean if you don't watch the show itself why would you watch ITT?!

Completely see your point mrbernay and I don't know what it is now going to take for the BBC to realise that all fans would much prefer to see a live results show...but an extra hour of strictly I would not complain about.

What would be great would be a live results show with just a helping of itt...or an after show type thing on a sun...

I totally don't care if the results are live! I like getting spoilers on DS!

I thought part of the official reasoning for the Sunday results show last year was that SCD is a family show and children would be able to see the results if they were on early evening. If the results show is going to be on from 8 til 9 this year my 8 year old will definitely not be watching it.

By the way I agree with katie_p. I really enjoyed getting the spoilers on Saturday nights last year!

That may have been the official excuse. The real reason was ratings. Otherwise they wouldn't put it on so late this year.

I shall be on here on the spoiler thread on Saturday. Save me having to sit through all the padding and "tension" of the results show.

The BBC is only interested in ratings. Their own SCD forums were full of objections to the Sunday show, but they resolutely ignored them.

And why shouldn't they ignore them?

If you weigh up a hundred or so vocal fans against the extra couple of million the results show was getting then the decision is a no brainer for them and those increased figures certainly suggest people are more willing to watch a Sunday rather than Saturday show.

If the ratings hadn't increased then they may not have bothered but with more people watching after the change they were never going to change back. If the fans on whole wanted the results show on Saturday then the only thing they could have done was not watch the Sunday show.

As 've just said on another thread (because I didn't see this one at first ) I can't see it staying up against Heartbeat for long - even though SCD did well against Emmerdale last year it had a head start (this year the two channels clash on start time) to boost the ratings.

I think they'll pitch it at 7pm soon, up against For One Night Only, where it should do a lot better. Though FONO is only on for another 3 weeks, and I don't know what ITV have lined up after then. Possibly reverting Heartbeat back to 7, knowing them.

Right ho then....

Sorry...but if you want to watch Heartbeat then what can I say? I don't mean specifically about you not watching SCD, but more about you actually wanting to watch Heartbeat. What can I say...hope you enjoy the next ten years in 1969...just like the previous ten.

If anyone here has watched DWTS they will know how enjoyable an hour long result show can be. I really hope that we get a "repeat dance". Plus it lets you waaaay in to what happened the previous night and hopefully we'll get a lot of humour out of it as well. But believe me it is not all "repeats of repeats of repeats". It will all be a fresh view of a new show.

Finally, I'm guessing (educationally) that the first results show is scheduled at eight to avoid the "family show" called "One Night Only" on ITV1. This was partly designed as a spoiler for the results show and the BBC moved the results show accordingly. However as "One Night Only" did not seem to have been a success (and will only run for four weeks) then I cannot see the 8 o'clock start going on for more than a week or two.

I absolutely hate the Sunday results show - haven't changed my mind about that at all, and hope it's soundly beaten in the ratings. But as it looks like we're stuck with it for now at least, have we got ourselves organized yet for the spoiler thread. Do we know who's going next Saturday and if anyone's willing to text in the results?

Hate the Sunday results thing, should be a live Saturday night thing with a results show 8.30pm-9pm and then Casualty at 9pm, with Merlin on Sunday.

The BBC doesn't care what the public thinks. They have made that very clear.

I hate having the results show on Sunday. I mean they are so rubbish at keeping it a secret they even leaked it themselves on the BBC News website at one point!

But Saturday nights on here are quite good fun!

I also hate the results show on the foll night too, they tried to do this with xfactor this year but they were told No. Id even prefer if they moved scd to sunday so both shows are on the same night

That won't happen because Len and Bruno jet out for Dancing with the Stars on Sunday, hence Len always talking on the phone from LA on Monday/Tuesday's It Takes Two.

I was kind of hoping for ITV to pull the Dancing On Ice trick and place the whole of X Factor on Sunday, forcing BBC's hand over SCD, but it wasn't to be.

I'm in three minds about the results show.

I realise the Beeb aren't going to change now so we're stuck with it, but I did like the tension of the Saturday night results show. It's now a question of the tension of the Saturday night spoilers which are fun but not as good IMO.

The good thing about the Sunday show is the extra dancing, especially seeing the pros perform, but I'd like more of that and less weird stuff like ballet dancers and acrobats. Oh, and they could do with some livelier bands on.

The difficulty I have with the Sunday show is that a) I'm the only one in my household who is a fanatic so I have to put up a convincing argument or record it, and b) it's a bit exhausting having Strictly on 7 days a week, especially now it's extended to 14 weeks. I'll be suffering from Strictly fatigue by the end!

You mean the Sunday show is not live?

As I go out after SCD I want the results to either be on late (after 10pm) or on the SUnday.

I sometimes come on here for a spoiler but normally I keep myself in suspense.

That's hardly likely to bother the beeb, they'll simply employ new people!

I quite like the results show on a Sunday - at least it's something to watch, on an otherwise pathetically boring night! Increasing it to an hour is probably because dwts results show is an hour, and that's been popular, and it allows more time for guest appearances, and pro dancing. And I DO LIKE GETTING THE SPOILERS!!!!
