I am a university student who has just moved into a house (which i rent) my room does not have a tv plug. Are USB t.v sticks which plug into you laptop any good?

Most of them still need the TV aerial and TV plug on the wall to get a decent picture unless you are within direct line of sight of a transmitter only a few miles away. Then the little aerial can be OK but don't get your hopes up.

the bog standard stick aerials are rubbish. I live less than a mile frm my nearest transmitter bt it doesnt pick anything up. Ur best off using it with a decent indoor aerial such as the one for all types

A DTT/Freeview one may be better (handles lower signal levels beter). There are plenty variants around, some even come with their own "dinky" little aerials!
