Tiscali upgrade - picture breaking up GRRRRR!

Hi. Was upgraded to the new Tiscali package a couple of months ago. Have to say the picture quality not as good (still on the old Homechoice box). However, two weeks ago a new problem emerged, we were watching a film and during a lull in the sound I thought I could hear some sort of background music which actually turned out to be some sort of signal registering through the tv (kinda sounds like a saxophone). Switched to terrestrial to check it wasn't the tv which it wasn't. Anyway, annoying as it was, it was not as bad as the now constant break up of picture to the point where the picture seems to be going in slow motion but the sound is ok. Have tried resetting etc, but to no avail. Seems to get worse the longer you leave it. Tonight I left it and then the picture just froze completely or just switched off, leaving me with a black screen and "no signal message" even though the blue light on the box is still on. Bloody annoying and yes, I know I should call Tiscali, but I've read so many horror stories about the 12-year-olds in customer service that I thought I would try here first.

Our silver box only worked for a few weeks after migrating from HC. It took 3 weeks for an engineer to come out and change the box after we'd phoned them so we were without internet and TV for that time. So it would probably be worth calling them asap.

Did they give you a Tiscali box? A mate of mine did the swap from the old homechoice silver box and he's had nothing but grief ever since.

Yes, a they gave us a Siemens which was awful at first until we did a 'firmware' upgrade from some info I read about on here. It's been fine since then.

Well I got a new Tiscali black box, which I think is the TV box they give you. Picture still breaks up occasionally, but nowhere near as bad as before. Anyone know of the firmware download that might fix this?

I am reporting them to OFCOM. I have been asking to be upgraded to Extra entertainment mix (only because my other half likes the discovery channel) since the beginning of August. They just cant seem to get their act together. The customer services are useless. At the end of July I was told it would take 48 hours. Nothing happened. So I rang up again. Was told to upgrade through my account. Nothing happened. I have rung them countless times and they still have activated my upgrade. Went on holiday 4 two weeks in August and it still hadn't been activated. It beats me how inefficient Tiscali are. I have never known a company that has such bad customer services.I just cant wait to get out of the 12 month contract. I am going to BT.
I dont know why anyone should want to have Tiscali TV.
