A new regular reporter for Breakfast?

Should we have a regular reporter appearing on Breakfast, as per Karen Hardy last season?

Should Karen keep the job?

Any suggestions?

It would need to be someone able to put together a decent 5-minute piece each week (might rule out a few pros).

Would they need a knowledge of previous series? ie: Would any of the new pros be suitable, or not?

Perhaps it should be someone who's not likely to last in the main show for very long (as per Karen last year).

Ian Waite (my preferred optioin) made a very good impression whenever he was on ITT last season. But, unless there's a shock eviction, he ought to last in the main show for a while.

Or would it be better to have different pros reviewing the program on Breakfast each week, in the same way that different pros did the red-button-commentary, and the "behind the scenes" clips for ITT?

It shouldn't really be Karen unless she is eliminated first, it puts her in an awkward position if any controversy arises over Gary- she's hardly going to criticise her own routines or say her own partner was overmarked.

I do think they should do it again, maybe it should default to whoever goes out first, or maybe they should leave it until the fifth week when the competition steps up a gear, and just choose whoever out of the four eliminated pros looks like a good bet. I'd guess that not all of them would actually like to do it.

It is nice when they rotate the eliminated pros round to do other things though, otherwise you don't see much of some of them.

I agree, I think it's more of a job for those eliminated first, to keep them still involved with the shows, otherwise like Katie said, it does mean you don't see as much of them as the other pros.

I suppose they also chose Karen because of her judging knowledge, which many of the others don't have to such a standard that she has, and also her obvious link with Bill & BBC Breakfast.

How about Nicole Cutler

There's no way they'd ask Nicole, surely! Not after her NOTW article.

Karen did do a great job, if she is eliminated early on I think they'll ask her again.

All the ones I think might be good at it have got decent celebrities though, so unless there's a shock elimination there might not be anyone suitable.

Would be nice to have Nicole Cutler, but doubt she'd get it as the BBC don't seem to be fans of her.

I also remember that some of the pros never did the backstage stuff; think it was Ola, so if they can't do that, they're not going to be too confident to present an item on BBC news.
