I love Karen. She is one of my favourites. Probably answers the judges back because she is/was a judge herself, so knows when they are taking rubbish!

Hello everybody

I hate this kind of threads, because for me doesn't do anything good no just only to the professionals, but neither to the dancing programs.

We all have our professional who we like and the ones we don't. I have two professionals that I don't like in the show, but I admire their dancings abilities.
About karen, well I can only say, I haven't never met her in person, but she was the only professional two years ago who took her time to replied to one of my emails concerning about one of the latin dancing and she was very sweet and she also said very nice things about all her collegues dancers.

I heard very harsh things about her, even acussing her about what happened to Nicole. And that's a very horrible thing to said about a person, without having prove.
When two half years ago, she sent me that email, she said Nicole Cutler is one of the greatest British dancers. So I don't believe she has anything to do what happened to Nicole, because they way she described both of the Cutlers, were with a lot admiration.

I think people like to judge without given the chance to meet the people.
Well, I like Karen and I hopoe she can stay long in this series.
Good night

I'll make this short.

My View of Karen: Absoloutely adore her.

Off the dance floor she's VERY irritating
During series 4 I wanted to tell her to 'shut up' a lot of the time!

Gosh Eternal Life, if you had posted this last season there would have been an instant brawl and your life may not have been eternal. I have read only the first 10 postings, so don't know if an all-out brawl has indeed started.

Karen likes to tell the audience what to think and what to do, rather like posting an eviction result without using a spoiler. At times like that I am reminded what a sweet unassuming pro dancer has been thrown out by the BBC this season.

Karen is my favourite female professional.

I love her dancing. I think she's different to everyone else dance wise, she has a different style which is powerful and has the wow factor.
I love her routines...they're always challenging and never bland.
I love her personality because she wears her heart on her sleeve. She is passionate about dancing and isn't afraid to show it.

I've heard pretty much all of them say that actually!

I find her relentless self-promotion a little hard to take ( i.e. VERY hard to take!)

I admire her skills, and acknowledge her record - but still don't take to her. I'm sure its some deep-seated psychological flaw in myself (lol)

lol. I just wanted to know what people thought and was I on my own for my dislike of Karen. Yes that indeed was a shame.

Karen and Matt C are no different to Lilia, Darren, Ian etc., in that respect.

Definitely. I imagine the BBC always have half an eye on who the public likes and is therefore worth (in their eyes) what they're paid. All the winners have bigger fanbases as a result of the extra exposure, Karen no different from any of the other four.

Karen is Karen: you either like what you see or you don't. She's just very human: she's strict, warm, determined, helpful, strong yet emotional at times...but there doesn't appear to be an falseness about her, which I do like.

Interesting that people are saying she changed in series 4. If she did, it was because different people need coaching in different ways. She adapted in order to get the best out of Ramps, I think. Unfortunately we have no idea how her partnership with Brian might have turned out as she went first round, but it would probably have been different again. And no doubt will be this year with Gary.

To those who can't quite take to Karen, it might be worth seeing how she progresses (if she does) with Gary - and see if you change your mind at all. I would be interested to know.

By the way - Karen and Nicole Cutler are very good friends, so for the few people (and there are one or two) who have suggested Nicole's demise on the show was due to Karen, I'm afraid you're pretty much barking up the wrong tree.

[quote=LauraD&L1;27541715]She knows her job inside out and when it coms to ballroom and latin dancing is vastly more experienced than all judges with the exception of Len./QUOTE]

I think you might find she's actually more experienced than Len too

I do like Karen, and I like her dancing. Sometimes she makes cringe when she is making daft comments. However eternal life, you have been a member since 2006, so I assume you knew exactly what people thought about Karen. I apologise if you didn't, but considering how many anti Karen threads there have been on this forum, I find that hard to believe.

I agree with a lot of other people on here, maybe this year we shouldn't start condeming people before the dancing has started.

Everyone seemed really lovely in last nights programme, competitive, of course, it's a competetion after all. I'm really looking forward to this year.

I haven't always been in the SCD forum, what is the problem in discussing Karen? There are other threads on the other dances out there and noone is saying a word and noone is complaining about them.

There is no problem in discussing Karen, but sometimes it seems that people are starting threads "wanting to know what everybody else thinks" when they already know what everybody else thinks. I'm not saying that you are doing this. But can you honestly say that you didn't see any of the anti-Karen threads last year?

For whatever reason, Karen is one of the most hated professionals on this forum, and every thread about her will get exactly the same replies as every year (since she won it with Ramps).

We only saw 5 minutes of her yesterday, and I'm just asking what was so wrong about her behaviour? They all have their quirks and weird behaviours.

So we can not discuss it again? I don't see the problem. I am just interested to know if others feel like I do or what they actually feel about her.

I maybe saw one or two threads about her but not very many... I used to stick to the discussion thread not that I should have to explain myself.

I just find her comments and her constant going on about her win very tiresome and annoying.

The thing about Karen is she is the oldest pro and I think she came out of semi-retirement after having a baby to compete (hope I got that right).

She is very, very proud of her win with Mark and I think she had every right to be so! She is a wonderful dancer and she seems to have a lovely personality.

Apparently she is also a very good judge and could show Len and Co a thing or two!

I am not a great fan of Gary Rhodes but I think they could do really well and I will be cheering them on with my other favourites!

I love Karen - might not always agree with her but she is one of favourites - I loved her partnership with Mark absolutely loved it - lept from the sofa in delight when they fininshed their AT - she might not be everyone's cup of tea - indeed there are other pros whom I dislike yet others seem to love them - we all have our favs - I think Karen rocks

That is not a history of the world I have lived in. Anti-Karen threads and postings have been vastly outnumbered by pro-Karen opposites, not least because some anti-Karen threads were hastily pulled by DS after protests from incandescent Karen supporters.

Her pupils and others who know her at firsthand come on here with glowing tributes, so I am going to take that as genuine.

Mark Ramprakash said that with Karen around it was hard for anybody else to be the boss. Karen has a lot to say every time she appears on TV, offering her robust views as judge and jury without providing listeners with the protective option of a spoiler. As Eric Morecambe might have said .......

Karen plays all the right notes,
not necessarily in the right order.

I don't necessarily agree with everything she says but on the whole I like her and I think there's a reason behind most of her beliefs. She probably does like to be the boss but the fact that both Bill and Ramps are still mates with her says something too they obviously like her.

All the pros are intensely competitive even the nice Matt C was saying he wants to win again - they wouldn't have got where they were without being that way. No holds being publicity hungry against Anton or Brendan to the same extent do they?

Ooh, You have opened a can of worms here EL
I love Karen, I think she is lovely, she's my favorite Female Pro. I'm not really a Lila or Erin fan. Each to their own, it would be a strange world if we all liked the same.

Maybe we lived in two different worlds. I should point out that I'm not a "mad" Karen supporter, but I'm also not prepared to scrutinise every move she makes and that she is annoying with everything that she says.. I like her dancing, I loved her and Bill Turnbull, and I thought her partnership with Mark was great.

I personally find it a shame that we start the new series with exactly the same "I don't stand her, or him attitude", but each to their own.
