Yes, I thought he was pretty good, and quite cute. I'm a bit worried about his age, though. I think 15 is too young.

I dont think he's too young, Meeting him told me he's quite mature for a 15 year old!

We have a game in my household called: spot the X Factor winner/loser. I usually win, hands down, having watched the show enough times to know the obvious set-ups in the contest.

Saturday night's show did not disappoint in crowning me the winner, yet again, though I almost thought Cheryl Cole would cave in when it came to Anthony Little, the guy with the piano tie. After having said yes to loads of people with no apparent talent at all, she should surely have given the guy another chance – especially after he'd dropped 4 stone since he was stopped at the gate three years ago. Come on Cheryl, he even shed his old clothes (and image) live on camera.

We normally make a list of the people whose talent shone above the rest, but I'd also like to give a special mention to those who supplied some of the best entertainment of the evening, and – let's face it – it's the people with voices only a mother could love.

this is what she said about mali

Mali-Michael McCalla – the 15 year old who put his own unique stamp on The Harder They Come – a rarity in this competition. Has a hint of Will Young about him.

Musical Roots!
Mali-Michael McCalla had the judges all-of-a-flutter at the London auditions when he sauntered into the judges' room and delivered his version of the Jimmy Cliff song, The Harder They Fall".

Said Mali, "When I walked into the audition I was nervous. But they were smiling at me, and I was like, 'Okay!'"

All four judges gave Mali a yes verdict, and Simon gushed, "You are potentially very, very good indeed. You have a really unique voice and you are very talented".

Although Mali's song choice was unusual for a 15 year-old, he told us, "I don't listen to contemporary pop music, I love the old-skool stuff. But my dad helped me come up with ideas for songs".

In fact, musical ability certainly runs in Mali's family as his dad Noel McCalla, who came along to auditions, is also a respected soul and reggae musician. Noel's career began with the band Moon in the 1970's before he recorded a solo album and collaborated with the likes of Paul Carrack and Mike Rutherford. These days, he is the lead singer of the legendary Manfred Mann's Earth Band!

And while Mali may not listen to contemporary pop, his mates most certainly do. And they're pretty jealous Mali has been rubbing shoulders with ladies like Cheryl and Dannii!

Said Mali, "Dannii was the friendliest, but Cheryl kept smiling at me".

"I keep getting texts and I've spoken to my mates. Everyone is like, "What's Cheryl Cole wearing?' and 'What is she like?".

He grins bashfully. "You know, I don't even think they care if I get through. All they care about is Cheryl!"

But Mali isn't bothered. With his feet firmly on the ground, his mind has already moved onto other things.

"Do you know if we can go yet? When I get home we're going to have pizza to celebrate!"
