Am I the only one watching with baited breath for the Chestnuts to appear in the shops?
It brings back memories of my childhood when my parents would roast them for us & we would burn the tips of our fingers trying to peel them before they cooled down.

No you are not the only one, can't wait.

Reminds me of trips to Oxford Circus, chestnuts and Hamleys...mmmmmmm.

When I go shopping in to Leeds I look out for the barrow bloke that has roast chestnuts & buy a bag. Hubby goes mad with me cause my fingers end up black from the shells.

I love them

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos"

we wanted to put one in our garden but it gets very wet when it rains & I read they don't like it too wet.
