Boomp Noise!
I can`t describe it any other way!
Basically, I changed the way my Sky HD audio output is connected to my amplifier. Initially it was by phono leads but I kept getting this crackling / interference type noise especially when music was being broadcast. I now have it connected via Optical lead and this seems to have resolved the interference noise. Now though I have this boomp noise which emits from the subwoofer every time I change channel. Its not a loud noise but its becoming annoying especially as I continually change channels when the pesky adverts are on every 10mins! Any ideas as to how I can resolve this? |

I get the same thing when I switch between DD and stereo programmes, not sure if it can be stopped. If I switch inputs, the amp mutes momentarily.
Maybe you should use your Sky HD to timeshift everything, rather than watching live programming. Saves channel hopping during adverts - just fast forward through them. |

I do try and time shift as often as possible but its those occasions when watching something live that I end up channel hopping!
I just wondered why I wasn`t getting the boomp noise when I had the connection via phone leads |

I just wondered why I wasn`t getting the boomp noise when I had the connection via phone leads With the optical connection, each time you change channels the DD/5.1 signal momentarily drops. The amp switches the decoder off, then back on again when it detects the DD signal, causing the noise. That's my understanding of what's happening. |
