I might be wrong about this but whenever poor reception/picture/sound/freezing is discussed by the clever parts of the site it always seems to be down to "mpeg compression". Basicaly C4/£4 is trying to cram to much digital information into the signal and so sometimes it gets stuck. Somehow. Or something.

Clever parts of the site? Where are they?

Unfortunately, compression doesn't explain why conversation is replaced with external sound, although totally silent gaps would help to compress the stream a little if they were that desperate.
